MORRICONE SET FOR OSCAR HONOUR

Legendary movie composer ENNIO MORRICONE is to be feted at the Academy Awards in February (06) with the event's annual Honorary Award.

The Italian has composed more than 300 movies over a 45-year career.

An Oscars spokesman says the award will be given to Morricone at the 79th Academy Awards "for his magnificent and multifaceted contributions to the art of film music".

Morricone has earned five Academy Award nominations for original score, but he has not previously received an Oscar.
