LATEST: SIR ELTON JOHN is prepared to sing CANDLE IN THE WIND at the DIANA, PRINCESS OF WALES memorial concert next year (07) - if her sons give him permission.
Elton John and his band perform live on the Captain And The Kid tour at Sydney Entertainment Centre. Sydney, Austrailia - 29.11.06
John has refused to sing the emotional track - which he originally wrote with BERNIE TAUPIN for MARILYN MONROE - since he performed it at the tragic British royal's funeral service in London's St Paul's Cathedral in September 1997, claiming to do so would be "inappropriate".
However, after agreeing to perform at a concert in London's Wembley Stadium next July (07), John says he would reconsider playing the song, despite his self-imposed ban on the track.
John says, "I'll do it if the PRINCES (WILLIAM and HARRY) want me to.
"I am at their service and if they think it is appropriate, then I'll be OK for it. They'll tell me when they are ready."
John will join DURAN DURAN, JOSS STONE and BRYAN FERRY at the star-studded concert next summer.
