BLUES GREAT LOCKWOOD DIES AGED 91
Blues legend ROBERT LOCKWOOD has died of respiratory failure at a hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. He was 91.
The Mississippi-based guitarist and singer suffered a stroke at the beginning of the month (NOV06) and never fully recovered.
Born in Arkansas, Lockwood started perfecting his musical skills at the age of 11 with blues godfather ROBERT JOHNSON as his mentor.
He became a busker and then a regular on Arkansas radio shows before moving to Chicago, Illinois and becoming an in-demand session musician.
Lockwood then became a member of the Cleveland blues scene in the 1960s, where he made his home until his death on Tuesday (21NOV06).
He was Grammy Award nominated twice for acclaimed albums I GOT TO FIND ME A WOMAN and DELTA CROSSROADS.
