CHRISTMAS MOVIE PAYS OFF FOR VANCOUVER NEIGHBOURS

The producers of new family movie DECK THE HALLS gave residents of one Vancouver, Canada community an early Christmas treat - they paid to take over the neighbourhood.

The Finches (Matthew Broderick and Kristin Davis) and the Halls (Kristin Chenoweth and Danny DeVito) in 'Deck the Halls'.

Set designers decided to use a real street for the festive film, rather than create a neighbourhood in a movie studio, which was a big pay off for lucky residents of a Vancouver suburb.

Former SEX + THE CITY star KRISTIN DAVIS, who stars in the film alongside DANNY DeVITO and MATTHEW BRODERICK, explains, "We had to buy the whole neighbourhood. We put them all up in hotels.

"We shot nights towards the end of the film and you could see the glow of the lights from miles away."

There was another treat for all the neighbours who vacated their homes for the shoot - they got to keep the Christmas decorations.
