GEST NEEDS REALITY CASH FOR MINNELLI DIVORCE BATTLE

DAVID GEST only agreed to appear on British reality show I'M A CELEBRITY... GET ME OUT OF HERE, because he is struggling to pay for his longrunning divorce from LIZA MINNELLI - according to reports.

The pair's bitter split has been battled out in American courts for the past three years, racking up extortionate lawyers' bills.

Sources claim Gest needs the $270,000 (GBP150,000) network ITV are paying him to survive in the Australian jungle, to help ease his debts.

A friend tells British newspaper The Sun, "David is not broke, he's got assets, but he has been having to pay out hundreds of thousands of pounds to his legal team.

"His divorce proceedings have been going on for three years. "

On top of their bitter divorce, Gest launched a $10 million (GBP5.5 million) lawsuit against Minnelli, claiming she physically abused him during their marriage. A judge dismissed the claim in September, but Gest has vowed to appeal.
