Flamboyant rockers THE FLAMING LIPS have kicked off their UK tour by appealing to the audience for help capturing a thief.

Distressed frontman WAYNE COYNE urged the Brighton, England crowd on Saturday (04NOV06) for information after a number of personal possessions - including his wife's digital camera and a laptop - were stolen from the group's dressing room before the show.
Coyne gave a quick description of the culprit, captured on CCTV, as "of regular build" who was, "wearing a light blue hooded athletic top with a white stripe".
He also described the thief as looking "a bit like a whippet" and promised to drop charges if the missing items were returned.
The theft was not the only incident to disrupt the DO YOU REALIZE? band's show - the set was halted for 15 minutes after a fan suffered a suspected epileptic fit after a light-heavy rendition of THE W.A.N.D.
