MADONNA REJECTED SEVEN 'GENUINE' ORPHANS
MADONNA passed over seven "genuine" orphans in favour of adopting her baby DAVID, according to the Malawian orphanage boss where she met her son.
LUCY CHIPETA, executive director of Home For Hope, claims the orphanage made a shortlist of 12 one-year-old boys suitable for adoption, but crew members from the pop superstar's Raising Malawi charity were blown away when they saw baby David, who wasn't on the list.
Chipeta recalls, "They all stopped in amazement and the cameras started clicking. Two women who were on the crew immediately lifted him up and loved this boy. We were not surprised because everyone who saw David just fell in love with him."
After seeing the pictures, Madonna started to make inquiries about David, prompting Malawi's director of child welfare PENSTON KILEMBE to contact the orphanage to ask for further details.
However, Chipeta expressed reservations before allowing the adoption to proceed, saying, "Of course this was a chance for David, but he had a parent. There are other desperate children and we would have loved her to take one of them."
