MADONNA IN TEARS IN AFRICA

MADONNA couldn't stop crying when she first went to Malawi because she had no idea the poverty was as extreme as it was.

The pop superstar visited Africa to shoot a documentary and set up a charity foundation for the African nation's children last month (OCT06), and was horrified by what she saw on the streets in Malawi.

She says, "When I went to Africa, I was reduced to floods of tears every day.

"I knew about the horrors of what was going on there but you don't know until you get there, you don't really know until you see a child laying listlessly on the pavement in a pool of urine with flies buzzing around their head or, like, children wandering around almost in a comatose state.

"(There were) women sitting on the front porches of their little huts with Karposi's sarcoma lesions all over their bodies."

Madonna fell in love with one Malawian child, DAVID BANDA, and is now in the process of adopting him.
