MADONNA would never have adopted Malawian baby DAVID BANDA if she believed he had a family who cared for him.
The singer and GUY RITCHIE have been targetted by the British media, who allege 16-month-old David's father was reluctant to hand over care of the tot to Madonna. It has also been claimed he has a grandmother who regularly visited him at his orphanage in the capital Lilongwe.
But the star, in an interview on BBC show NEWSNIGHT, insists, "If somebody had said, 'Oh his dad comes every week', or 'His granny visits on a regular basis and he's well looked after', I would not have given it another thought.
"I never met a granny and I was told he was never visited by any member of his extended family.
"That's why I wanted to adopt him."
