MADONNA: 'I WASN'T GIVEN SPECIAL TREATMENT'

MADONNA has hit out at claims she used her fame to bypass the proper channels when she adopted Malawian baby DAVID BANDA.

The MATERIAL GIRL was recently attacked by the main benefactor of the orphanage 16-month-old David was taken from, JANE GLAVES, who claims the singer used her status to hurry proceedings -when other families have struggled for years to secure adoptions.

But, speaking on BBC current affairs show NEWSNIGHT, Madonna insists she has had no special treatment.

She says, "I haven't been given special treatment. I haven't actually adopted David. I've been given interim adoption."

She also reveals her plans to help make it easier for others to follow her lead, adding, "I'd like to change adoption laws there."
