MINOGUE TURNS EDITOR

Pop beauty KYLIE MINOGUE has taken time out of her business empire and music career, to guest edit an issue of Australian Vogue magazine.

Following her successful battle against breast cancer last year (05), the SPINNING AROUND hitmaker is preparing to resume the Antipodean leg of her Showgirl world tour, which she was forced to cancel when she was diagnosed.

In Minogue's November (06) issue of Vogue, she models outfits by Chanel and Dolce E Gabbana, and appears on the front cover.

In her editorial, she pays tribute to her family and boyfriend OLIVIER MARTINEZ, saying, "My whole world changed. I have learned and experienced so much about myself and others.

"It's great to be able to make those first steps back into the life I knew before - the one I now know better."

Besides her music career, Minogue also has a successful lingerie range and recently wrote her first children's book.

DELONGE BLAMES BLINK-182 BREAKUP ON DIFFERING FAMILY VALUES

Former BLINK-182 member TOM DeLONGE insists the reason he decided to quit the successful band was because he valued spending quality time with his family over partying like a rock star.

DeLonge has since gone on to form ANGELS AND AIRWAVES, while the other two former members of the group, TRAVIS BARKER and MARK HOPPUS have formed the band +44.

He explains, "When you're in a band, it's just as much of a business as it is a family. I started the band when I was 16 years old and now I'm 30.

"You do a lot of changing between those years and when I look back on it in hindsight I think the three of us were just completely different people with different priorities.

"It was an incredible learning experience, an incredible time for myself, but I think just having families and knowing what you want to do for the rest of your life really makes you kind of look at things through a different kind of prism."

DeLonge claims that deciding to leave the group was difficult, but he ultimately decided to put his family first.

He adds, "It was a tough time. I mean, I didn't want the band to end and I didn't want anything other than that band to be the biggest band in the world, but it became really apparent to me that first and foremost, I needed to be a certain type of father and husband to my family and I wasn't able to do it in that situation.

"I'm a guy who works off being able to see things and I couldn't see that happening anymore, but I saw something really special happening in the next part of my life and that's when Angels and Airwaves happened.

WILSON MISERABLE ABOUT BECOMING MOTHER

Country singer GRETCHEN WILSON insists she felt ''miserable, fat and ugly'' when she was pregnant with her daughter and feared a baby would end her singing career.

The REDNECK WOMAN star is known for surviving a tough childhood and her wild ways like chewing tobacco and drag racing on country roads.

Wilson has written a new memoir, REDNECK WOMAN: STORIES FROM MY LIFE, where she talks about the fear she felt when she learned she was going to become a mother.

She says, "Initially, I felt downright miserable. I saw myself as fat and ugly and pregnant.

"At the same time, I started feeling that my dream that lead me to Nashville was slowly slipping away."

Wilson credits friends and loved ones for helping her through the stressful time and enabling her to become comfortable with her new role.

The star says when her daughter GRACE was born her views on motherhood completely shifted.

She adds, "The bottom line is, Grace is my life and music is my talent and passion... I'm a mom first, a singer second."

He tells MTV News, "Men and women in their twenties are like the walking dead, being part of a workforce they don't want to be a part of. Nothing. No life.

"They're not in love. They're just, like, going out to bars, getting wasted and having casual sex. It's a really hollow, empty period in your life and I think nothing, to me, felt more dead than being, like, 23.

"It's something about being in your 20s; it's a very dark period in your life because you're confused about what you're doing, you've made a lot of mistakes, you can't see yourself getting to 30 yet.

"It is kind of like a tragic period and there's a lot of anger in, like, 20-somethings."

HOLMES AND CRUISE TO WED AT MUSSOLINI'S HOME?

TOM CRUISE and KATIE HOLMES are reportedly planning to wed at Italian dictator BENITO MUSSOLINI's former World War II base by Lake Garda.

British newspaper Daily Express claims Holmes has fallen for the exclusive Villa Feltrinelli hotel, which is where Mussolini was based during the war.

An insider says, "Katie recently visited with Victoria and fell in love with it. It's ideal for her and Tom as it's hidden away by dense greenery on the landward side, while the view on the opposite side overlooking the lake is stunning.

"Katie and Victoria were made aware that Mussolini used it as a base during the war, but seemed more interested that the glamorous likes of GRACE KELLY and ISADORA DUNCAN had stayed there."

O'REILLY AND LETTERMAN REKINDLE FEUD

Conservative US talk show host BILL O'REILLY got into a sparring match with DAVID LETTERMAN during an appearance on the LATE SHOW on Friday night (27OCT06).

The US Fox News Channel host renewed his prickly confrontation with Letterman that began in January (06) when Letterman told him, "I have the feeling about 60 per cent of what you say is c**p."

Before O'Reilly came out, Letterman made his feelings clear saying, "I'm secretly hoping when Bill O'Reilly comes out here, I'll have the opportunity to call him a bonehead."

O'Reilly walked out for his appearance with a plastic shield and sword, which he proceeded to hand to Letterman who quipped, "That's cute, that's nice. You come out with toys."

The pair discussed the Iraq war and the upcoming midterm election in the US, with O'Reilly saying that Americans are depressed by the progress of the Iraq war and that they'd rather watch escapist entertainment like DANCING WITH THE STARS.

O'Reilly then mocked Letterman asking, "Are you going to be on Dancing with the Stars?"

Letterman shot back, "Ha ha. You bonehead."

At the end of the uncomfortable confrontation Letterman quipped, "I have no idea what I'm talking about, but I don't think you do, either."

WOLFMOTHER DOMINATES AUSTRALIA'S ARIA AWARDS

Progressive rock band WOLFMOTHER picked up three top awards for their self-titled debut album at the Australian Recording Industry Association Music Awards on Sunday night (29OCT06) in Sydney.

Former POWDERFINGER frontman BERNARD FANNING also celebrated the success of his debut solo album TEA + SYMPATHY by winning the Best Male Artist and Album of the Year awards.

Singer CLARE BOWDITCH, who is expecting twin boys with her husband, music producer MARTY BROWN, picked up the Best Female Artist award.

MIDNIGHT OIL, led by PETER GARRETT, who is now a member of the House of Representatives in Australia, received a standing ovation when the group was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame.

U2 frontman BONO appeared via video to congratulate the band on their achievement.

Australian country star KEITH URBAN, who was scheduled to perform at the ceremony, left event organisers hanging after he checked himself into a rehab facility and they were unable to find a suitable replacement in time for the show.

APPLETON VOWS TO MARRY GALLAGHER

ALL SAINTS singer NICOLE APPLETON is determined to wed her long-term love LIAM GALLAGHER, despite the OASIS rocker swearing off marriage.

"We're pretty much married anyway and I call him my husband sometimes. We come as a unit - where he goes, our son Gene and I go. Having children together is a bigger commitment that getting married - but we will do it."

ROBBIE AND MCFLY TOP UK MUSIC CHARTS

Pop heart-throb ROBBIE WILLIAMS has scored his eighth number one in the UK album charts with his latest offering RUDEBOX.

The former TAKE THAT's star album went straight to the top of the charts on Sunday (29OCT06), knocking previous number one KILLERS' SAM'S TOWN to five.

PITT FILES TRESPASSING CHARGES AGAINST JOURNALISTS

LATEST: BRAD PITT is seeking trespassing charges against a producer and cameraman after they allegedly walked onto the actor's property in the Hollywood Hills last week (ends27OCT06).

The journalists from US TV network E! were fired after they allegedly unchained a gate at the back of the star's estate before entering the grounds, where they were spotted by construction workers maintaining the property.

Pitt and his girlfriend ANGELINA JOLIE are currently filming in India and were not at home when the incident occurred.

A representative for Pitt confirms to American publication People, "Yes, we have filed trespassing charges against E! and are exploring our legal options against both the crew that actually trespassed and the network itself."

Executives from the cable entertainment network deny any wrongdoing, saying in a statement, "E! Networks is investigating allegations that a producer and cameraman who were filming locations for a program about Brad Pitt went onto property last week that is reportedly owned by Mr Pitt.

"E! Networks did not instruct or authorise anyone working on its program to improperly intrude onto private property, and the individuals involved have been terminated.

"While neither Mr Pitt nor his family were at the property when the incident took place, the network in no way condones or encourages such behaviour and would like to offer its most sincere apologies to Mr Pitt and his family."

A Los Angeles police spokesperson says the incident is still under investigation.

METCALFE AND COYLE HOUSE-HUNTING

The transatlantic relationship between TV heart-throb JESSE METCALFE and Northern Irish pop star NADINE COYLE is getting serious - they're buying a house together.

Despite Coyle spending most of the time in the UK as part of pop group GIRLS ALOUD, the couple have been househunting in Los Angeles, where the DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES hunk is based.

Coyle enthuses, "We're house-hunting in LA. I've been in love with the city since we first went there two years ago.

"I already have places in London and Ireland and I like the idea of having my own property empire.

LAWYERS TRY TO BLOCK MOVIE ON MURDER CASE

A former fugitive who is awaiting trial for a teenager's murder sued Universal Studios on Friday (27OCT06), claiming he's unfairly portrayed in a movie based on the crime.

JESSE JAMES HOLLYWOOD, 26, is charged with kidnapping and murdering NICHOLAS MARKOWITZ, a 15-year-old from West Hills, California, in August 2000.

Hollywood alleges that ALPHA DOG, which was shown at the Sundance Film Festival, closely parallels the theory of Markowitz's murder alleged by the former prosecutor in the case, Santa Barbara, California County Deputy District Attorney RON ZONEN, who was a consultant for the film.

Hollywood is trying to stop the film's release in January (07), which stars BRUCE WILLIS, SHARON STONE and JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE.

He claims the movie will "irreparably harm" his ability to receive a fair trial.

Due to his involvement in the film, Zonen - who prosecuted four other men convicted in connection with the murder - was removed from the case earlier this month (OCT06) by a court order.

Markowitz's body was eventually found in a Santa Barbara County camping area. Prosecutors allege he was kidnapped because of a drug debt owed by his brother.

Hollywood was apprehended in Brazil in March 2005 and has pleaded not guilty. If convicted, he could face the death penalty.

SONGWRITER WILKIN DIES

Songwriter MARIJOHN WILKIN, who co-wrote the classic ballad LONG BLACK VEIL and other hits, has died. She was 86.

Wilkin died at her home in Nashville, Tennessee on Saturday (28OCT06) after a long battle with heart problems.

In addition to penning hit songs over a career that began in the 1950s, Wilkin was a backup singer and founded Buckhorn Music publishers, where KRIS KRISTOFFERSON got his songwriting start in 1965.

Wilkin's songs were performed by stars including JOHNNY CASH, THE BEATLES, PATSY CLINE and ROD STEWART.

She was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1975.

Long Black Veil was co-written with DANNY DILL in 1959 and honky-tonk singer LEFTY FRIZZELL recorded the song within days of it being written and it became a top-10 single.

In addition to being a signature hit for Cash, the song about a false accusation of murder was also recorded by JOAN BAEZ, THE KINGSTON TRIO, THE BAND, JERRY GARCIA and BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN.

After a religious conversion in the 1970s, she and Kristofferson wrote the enduring gospel favourite ONE DAY AT A TIME and she devoted her songwriting exclusively to gospel music.
