ROLLING STONES CANCEL JERSEY GIG
THE ROLLING STONES were forced to cancel their Friday night (27OCT06) concert in New Jersey, after frontman SIR MICK JAGGER was struck down by a sore throat.

The BROWN SUGAR supergroup were scheduled to perform a date from their A Bigger Bang world tour at Atlantic City's Broadwalk Hall.
This is the second time Jagger's throat has affected the tour - in August (06), the band cancelled two dates in Spain after the singer contracted laryngitis.
Friday's gig has been rescheduled for 17 November (06).

She says, "We all want to do solo careers.
"It is something we talk about a lot. We love what the girls in DESTINY'S CHILD did by going off and then getting together again later. I am sure things will happen naturally.
"I think we need to take a break soon so that I can enjoy being me. People have said to me, 'Tell me about yourself,' and all I could say was, 'I'm a Sugababe.' That really upset me for a long time."

Sibling pop stars HANSON have become the latest group to reveal all about their secret struggles in a documentary.

The trio's three-year struggle with record company executives at Island/Def Jam, while recording 2004 album UNDERNEATH, features in new film STRONG ENOUGH TO BREAK.
Drummer ZAC HANSON insists the film is an interesting look at the state of the record industry.
He tells Billboard.com, "The film is important, not because it's about Hanson, because who cares, we're just one more band, but because there are so many similar stories, like what happened to FIONA APPLE and WILCO. It's sort of the norm."
Hanson hopes the next generation of music stars will learn from the film: "We went to colleges all over the country to screen (the movie) and did lectures to spread the word about all the changes that are going on (in the industry) right now.
"There are a lot of new avenues, and people really need to be involved in deciding where this industry goes and how music is sold over the next 10 years."
Strong Enough To Break premiered at the recent Hollywood Film Festival and will be released on DVD later this year (06).

Rockers FRANZ FERDINAND owe their chart success to their love of food, because founder members ALEX KAPRANOS and BOB HARDY met while working in a kitchen.
Frontman Kapranos worked as a chef in a Scottish restaurant several years ago, and would always discuss his plan to form a band with bassist Hardy during breaks.

MAKE ME A SUPERMODEL presenter JASMINE LENNARD has been sacked after making derogatory comments about RACHEL HUNTER, who is a judge on the British reality show.

Lennard, 21, was a contestant in the first series of the programme screened on the Five channel, and sparked a frosty relationship with the ex-wife of ROD STEWART by calling her "spotty, finished and fat".
Returning as a presenter for the second series, Lennard had begun referring to Hunter as Rachael 'Munter' during segments during her MAKE ME A SUPERMODEL EXTRA broadcasts on digital channel Five Life.
A spokesperson for production company Tiger Aspect says, "Make Me A Supermodel has fired Jasmine Lennard due to the comments she made about our main panel judge and established face of the show Rachel Hunter on Make Me A Supermodel Extra.
"It was very clear in her contract that no derogatory comments were to be made about any of the panel who in the first series eliminated her in the early stages. As she broke this we sadly had no choice but to sack her."

MCQUEEN'S WIDOW: 'AMERICA TURNED ITS BACK ON STEVE'
The widow of screen legend STEVE McQUEEN has blasted former US President RONALD REAGAN, claiming the former actor ignored her pleas to introduce experimental new cancer drugs into America to save her ailing husband.
BARBARA McQUEEN insists Reagan's refusal to help her late husband forced him to seek cancer treatment in Mexico, where he was prescribed a controversial blend of pancreatic enzymes, 50 daily vitamins and minerals, massages, prayers, psychotherapy, coffee enemas and injections of a cell preparation made from sheep and cattle foetuses.
The actor felt his health improving but died on 7 November 1980 aged 50 - the day after undergoing surgery to remove cancerous growths from his abdomen and neck.
Writing in her memoirs STEVE McQUEEN: THE LAST MILE, she fumes, "America turned its back on Steve McQueen. I wrote a letter to President Ronald Reagan asking him to please bring these drugs into America so that he could be treated at home. I never had a reply."
And the widow is still bitter over her late husband's medical treatment, claiming American doctors lied to her about how long her late husband had left to live.
She recalls, "His doctors lied to me. They said he had five to seven years, yet he passed away in five to six months. They said they didn't want to hurt me but I couldn't have been more hurt by his passing. It still pains me."

MCCARTNEY AND MILLS COME TOGETHER FOR DAUGHTER BEATRICE
LATEST: SIR PAUL McCARTNEY and HEATHER MILLS agreed on a temporary truce in their divorce battle yesterday (28OCT06) when they celebrated their daughter BEATRICE's third birthday together.
The former BEATLE and his estranged wife arrived at and left the event separately, but they did put up a united front at the two-hour birthday party in Hastings, England for the sake of their daughter.
The temporary truce comes after British newspapers printed alleged court documents in which Mills claims the 64-year-old attacked her when she was pregnant and, on another occasion, stabbed her in the arm with a broken wine glass.
McCartney is also accused of verbally abusing Mills, calling her an "ungrateful bitch", and objecting vociferously when the amputee asked to purchase an antique bedpan so she didn't have to crawl to the toilet during the night.

FORMER BOXING CHAMP BERBICK MURDERED
Former heavyweight world champion TREVOR BERBICK was hacked to death yesterday (28OCT06) in Jamaica. He was 52.
The Canadian-born boxer was found in a churchyard with a "deep chop wound" in his head. It is believed he was attacked with a machete or a hatchet. Detectives are hunting for his killer.
Berbick, who was the last man to fight MUHAMMAD ALI before his retirement, moved to Jamaica in 2002 after a blood clot on his brain forced him to retire from boxing in 2000.
In 1992 he was sentenced to five years in jail for sexually assaulting his family babysitter.
He is survived by his wife and six children.

NOBEL WRITER NADINE GORDIMER ATTACKED AND ROBBED
Nobel Prize-winning writer NADINE GORDIMER was attacked and locked in a storeroom on Thursday (26OCT06), while thieves burgled her Johannesburg, South Africa home.
THE CONSERVATIONIST author, who counts NELSON MANDELA as a close friend, was assaulted when she refused to hand over her wedding ring, but did not sustain serious injuries.
According to police, three men overpowered Gordimer and her maid, and the attackers took cash and jewellery and before fleeing the 1974 Booker Prize winner's home.
Both woman are recovering from the ordeal, which happened in broad daylight.
