SAW SEQUEL GAVE STAR SMITH SLEEPLESS NIGHTS

Actress SHAWNEE SMITH struggled to sleep while making horror movie sequel SAW III because images from the gory film set kept her awake at night.

The pretty brunette fought insomnia throughout the shoot but eventually discovered she could nod off if she went for a walk and changed nappies.

She explains, "I had full on insomnia making Saw III just from the images. I'd put my head on the pillow and there were those images.

"The subconscious doesn't know the difference from reality to fantasy. In my personal life I don't value being very emotional or reactionary but when I'm working I rile myself up and heighten my responses. So at the end of the day there's a kind of winding down.

"I found it helpful to come home to the kids and change a diaper. They rented me a nice little house in Toronto in a nice neighbourhood and we'd go for a walk. That helped."
