MYSTERY MOLE SPARKS ROBERTS CANCER DEBATE

Movie star JULIA ROBERTS has been urged to seek professional help after a mysterious mole showed up on the side of her right breast during a recent photo shoot.

Photographers spotted the blemish as they snapped the PRETTY WOMAN star at a Hollywood tribute to GEORGE CLOONEY last week (ends20OCT06) and now cancer experts are calling for the actress to get screened.

After seeing photos of the actress' mole DR CHRISTINE HORNER, a cancer expert and plastic surgeon in Taos, New Mexico, where Roberts has a home, tells US tabloid the Globe, "I would definitely remove the mole.

"It is raised, pigmented and greater than a centimetre, which statistically increases the risk of it converting to malignancy."

But Beverly Hills dermatologist DR DAVID STOLL insists the blemish looks as if Roberts has already had a growth removed.

He adds, "It looks like a scar from the removal of a growth."

MCCARTNEY SILENCES LINDA TAPES IN LIGHT OF MILLS DIVORCE

LATEST: SIR PAUL McCARTNEY has reportedly threatened legal action to prevent a close friend of LINDA McCARTNEY from disclosing the contents of 20 hours of audio tapes recorded by his late first wife.

PETER COX co-wrote the book LINDA McCARTNEY'S HOME COOKING in 1989 and was given the 15 cassettes, an audio record of her ideas.

However, according to British newspaper the Daily Mirror, the tapes also contain revelations of her marriage to McCartney which the former BEATLE now wants kept secret in light of his bitter divorce battle with HEATHER MILLS.

McCartney's management company MPL Communications now has an agreement in writing from Cox to keep their contents confidential.

A source tells the publication, "They're dynamite. Linda begins to unburden her troubles and the tapes become an audio diary.

"It's a private and emotional confessional. She vents feelings which she'd not dared share even with her closest loved ones. She found the tapes cathartic.

"Mr Cox has been silenced and the tapes remain a secret."

OSBOURNE SLAMS MADONNA FOR 'BUYING' BABY

Rock matriarch SHARON OSBOURNE has blasted MADONNA for adopting an African, accusing the pop superstar of buying her baby in Malawi.

EVANS AND SCHELSKE AGREE TO SHARE MONEY

LATEST: Country singer SARA EVANS and her estranged husband CRAIG SCHELSKE yesterday (26OCT06) agreed in court to share money he had withdrawn from a joint bank account.

The feuding couple faced off against one another in Williamson County Courthouse in Tennessee - two weeks after Evans filed for divorce from her husband of 13 years.

The CHEATIN' singer and Schelske also agreed to arrange a visitation schedule for their three children.

They were given $137,000 (GBP76,100) from their joint account, so they could make personal arrangements concerning accommodation.

Schelske told the court he planned to use the money to find an apartment to live in during the divorce trial.

The hearing was stalled for 15 minutes as officials decided whether or not to allow media to report on the trial from inside the courtroom.

Despite reservations concerning exposure to the couple's three kids, a small army of photographers, cameramen and reporters were allowed to stay in court.

The court judge ruled that the former couple is barred from excessive drinking or fighting in front of their kids during the divorce trial. He also kept a restraining order in place, aimed at keeping Evans and Schelske apart.

KEANE ABANDON GIG AFTER LIGHTING FALLS ONSTAGE

KEANE were forced to cancel their concert on Wednesday night (25OCT06), after a piece of lighting equipment crashed onto the stage near where the British band was playing.

The SOMEWHERE ONLY WE KNOW stars were nearing the end of their set at the Brighton Centre in England when the incident happened.

And while nobody was injured, the venue had to be evacuated immediately.

A fan who was in the audience says, "They started the encore and they had a big lighting rig on a stand which was lifted up into the gantry. It got caught on another bit of equipment and it fell over down the back of the stage.

"No one got squashed or anything, but the band left the stage and an announcement was made saying everyone had to leave immediately due to health and safety."

MICHAEL J FOX ATTACKS LIMBAUGH

LATEST: MICHAEL J FOX went on the attack last night (26OCT06), attacking right-wing radio host RUSH LIMBAUGH's controversial comments that the actor used his Parkinson's Disease symptoms to make a political statement in a new campaign ad.

Limbaugh accused the BACK TO THE FUTURE star of "acting" and "exaggerating" the uncontrollable shaking that Parkinson's Disease victims suffer from on his radio show, after watching Fox's appearance in a new TV ad for Missouri Democratic Senate candidate CLAIRE McCASKILL.

Fox's publicist JOHN ROGERS has already called Limbaugh's remarks "shameful" and last night, the actor went on the record about the controversy while appearing on the CBS Evening News.

Talking to host KATIE COURIC, a trembling and angry Fox admitted he was hurt by Limbaugh's comments when he referred to him as "a victim" and "pitiable".

The actor stated, "Nobody in this position wants pity... I couldn't give a damn about Rush Limbaugh's pity or anybody else's pity. I'm not a victim."

And Hollywood is siding with Fox - SHARON STONE has spoken out against Limbaugh after she watched an internet segment of the radio host's show, during which he mocks the actor by waving his arms, shaking in his chair and laughing.

She says, "To see someone thoughtlessly attack him was very hurtful."

Fox agreed to appear in the campaign ad for McCaskill after learning she shared his concerns for stem-cell research, which the actor hopes will help experts find a cure for Parkinson's Disease and other ailments.

ANOTHER HEALTH SETBACK FOR FAWCETT

Actress FARRAH FAWCETT has been dealt a severe health blow as she begins her cancer battle - complications from radiation treatment have reportedly left her swollen and bleeding.

The former CHARLIE'S ANGELS star is having emergency surgery before medics will return to the radiation, according to US tabloid National Enquirer.

Sources tell the publication that the embattled star needs a hysterectomy after allegedly haemorrhaging from a burst uterine tumour.

An insider says, "Farrah's doctors have been forced to take a triage approach to her treatment. They're dealing with the most serious conditions first, in addition to trying to eradicate the cancer."

JAWS TUBA PLAYER DIES

The tuba player famous for creating the JAWS shark theme died in a Los Angeles hospital last week (ends20OCT06).

TOMMY JOHNSON was 71 when he passed away at UCLA Medical Center on 16 October (06).

According to his wife PATRICIA, Johnson, who also performed on the soundtracks for THE GODFATHER and TITANIC, died from complications of cancer and kidney failure.

STEWART'S KIDS CAUGHT UP IN CLUB FIGHT

ROD STEWART's children SEAN and KIMBERLY STEWART were caught up in a late night brawl outside hip Hollywood club Privilege on Wednesday night (25OCT06), when the rocker's son stepped in to defend his sister's honour.

In a spat caught on camera by US TV news show Extra, Sean Stewart appears to spit on a reveller and is then tackled to the ground by another man.

The spat was quickly broken up and both parties drove off into the night.

Stewart has a history of violence - he spent time in jail in 2002 and was ordered to undergo drug rehabilitation after pleading no contest to attacking a man outside a Malibu, California restaurant.

Former TV SUPERMAN DEAN CAIN broke up that fight in December 2001 when he spotted Stewart, then 22, kicking a man in the face and stomach.

EX-WIFE CLAIMS HASSELHOFF ABUSED HER AND CHILDREN

LATEST: DAVID HASSELHOFF's ex-wife has accused the BAYWATCH star of regularly assaulting her during their marriage, and of being so drunk he often defecated himself.

PAMELA BACH and Hasselhoff fought a bitter divorce battle earlier this year (06). She is now trying to legally overturn a prenuptial agreement.

And in court papers seen by British newspaper The Sun, Bach claims Hasselhoff's drink and drug problems were the reason behind the breakdown of their 16 year marriage.

In the legal documents, she says: "He often hit me, pushed me around and threw things at me in a drunken rage.

"The petitioner (Hasselhoff) has abused alcohol and drugs for over 16 years and as a result is often intoxicated and either violent and uncontrollable or completely incapacitated.

"He frequently loses control of his bladder and bowels, urinating and defecating himself."

Bach also accuses Hasselhoff of being unfaithful and of abusing their children, TAYLOR ANN, 16, and HAYLEY, 14.

She says, "The petitioner was unfaithful and untruthful throughout our marriage...

"The petitioner has also physically abused the children. He has slapped the girls on their a**es while intoxicated and on several occasions laid naked with them in their bed.

"He has screamed at Hayley. He called Hayley a c**t, slut, b**ch and a whore."

And Bach alleges her ex-husband failed to reveal he had a sexually transmitted disease when they got married.

She says, "At the time of our marriage I was not informed that the petitioner had herpes.

"He failed to tell me about his condition for many years, potentially exposing me to the extremely dangerous virus."

Earlier this week (begs23OCT06), Hasselhoff filed his own court papers accusing Bach of being "intoxicated or on drugs" at Taylor Ann's 16th birthday party. He also claims she "often wrongly accused me of having affairs in the presence of our children".

PRYOR'S KIDS FIGHT WIDOW OVER LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT

Comedian RICHARD PRYOR's children are ganging up on his widow JENNIFER in a bid to get what they think is rightfully theirs.

The family has been feuding for years but the spat spiralled out of control at the end of last year (05) after Pryor died of a heart attack.

And now, ELIZABETH PRYOR - one of the funnyman's six children - has filed suit against Jennifer, accusing her of forging his last will and testament.

Elizabeth is hoping to have a will her father signed shortly before his death, when he was allegedly debilitated by multiple sclerosis, ruled illegal and an earlier one, in which he split his fortune between his kids, reinstated.

In the 65-year-old comic's final will, he left the bulk of his estate to his widow, who nursed him through his final years as multiple sclerosis slowly robbed him of his life.

A family friend tells US tabloid the National Enquirer, "The kids have declared war on Jennifer to get what they believe is rightfully theirs."

WOMAN'S NAME REMOVED FROM EVANS DIVORCE PAPERS

LATEST: The former nanny named as the other woman in country star SARA EVANS' divorce papers has learned her name is to be removed from the court papers.

The singer accused former best friend ALISON CLINTON of having an affair with her husband CRAIG SCHELSKE - something both Schelske and the nanny have denied.

Clinton has since undergone and passed a televised lie detector test in America.

And, as Evans and her estranged husband met in court in Tennessee yesterday (26OCT06), it was decided their former nanny's name would be wiped from the divorce documents.

Clinton admits she's relieved she won't be dragged into the divorce battle, but she still wants an apology from Evans.

She tells US News show ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT, "My initial reaction was, 'That's great but that still doesn't solve the problem of what we've been through and it still doesn't give me a public apology.'"
