MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE APPALLED BY BRITISH REPORTS

Rockers MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE have blasted British tabloid the Daily Mail for accusing them of encouraging teenage fans to mutilate and harm themselves.

The group, who currently top the UK singles chart with WELCOME TO THE BLACK PARADE, were horrified by a recent Mail article that took their goth image and dark anthems a little too seriously.

Frontman GERARD WAY fumes, "In the UK there's a conservative newspaper and they refer to us basically as a death cult that encourage kids to self-harm (themselves).

"It was the most ignorant, ridiculous thing we've ever read."

Way insists the newspaper has got him and his bandmates all wrong and they're glad they don't have to face the same negative press in their native America.

He adds, "We're intelligent and we have something to say. We don't use, for example, God or religion as a scapegoat in a lot of ways bands will to sell a record. We have a lot of respect for everybody and what they believe in."
