HAWKING TO DIVORCE?

Physicist STEPHEN HAWKING has split up with his wife ELAINE, according to British press reports.

The world famous professor has been married to his second wife Elaine - for 11 years, but they are reportedly heading for divorce after speculation the flame-haired 55-year-old - his former carer - abused him, although no evidence has ever been found.

A source close to the couple says, "Stephen and Elaine's relationship is over. There is also talk that he has fallen for another woman.

"It's an incredibly sad state of affairs. Nobody knows why they are splitting up - it's a complete mystery."
