JAY-Z STUNNED BY THE GOOD + BAD IN AFRICA

Africa is making a huge impact on rapper JAY-Z, leaving him both hopeful and hopeless about mankind.

The rap star has spent the past two weeks shooting an MTV documentary there and promoting the nation's need for clean water supplies, and he admits the trip has been "an emotional rollercoaster."

He says, "I've been in Johannesburg, South Africa, which is beautiful and I've been in the shanty towns in Angola and Tanzania.

"To see people living like that in 2006 is hard... (but) I'm loving the way I'm being embraced out here."
