BAHAMIAN POLICE VISIT SMITH'S HOME

LATEST: Police investigating the death of reality TV star ANNA NICOLE SMITH's 20-year-old son made several visits to the star's waterfront mansion in the Bahamas Monday (16OCT06).

Authorities have said they do not suspect foul play in the 10 September (06) death of DANIEL SMITH, who died while visiting his mother in her hospital room three days after giving birth.

Royal Bahamas Police Force Assistant Commissioner REGINALD FERGUSON says, "I know officers have visited the house several times to speak with them about different things, but I don't know if it was necessarily to search the place."

Ferguson, who declined to say what information the officers were seeking, said police expect to report their conclusions in the coming days to the attorney general, who will then determine whether a jury inquest into the death is necessary.

American pathologist DR CYRIL WECHT, who was hired by the 38-year-old former Playboy playmate, has said Daniel Smith died from a lethal combination of methadone and two antidepressants.

Bahamian investigators returned a week ago from California where they interviewed people, including a doctor for the young man.

Last week (ends15OCT06), Smith's lead attorney in the Bahamas quit, citing disagreements on strategy and her decision to exchange vows with her boyfriend before making funeral arrangements for her son.
