TWISTED SISTER rockers DEE SNIDER and EDDIE OJEDA have praised the Long Island Music Hall of Fame, saying it will help New York City's neighbour to overcome its inferiority complex.
The WE'RE NOT GONNA TAKE IT stars will be inducted into the Hall of Fame alongside fellow Long Island music stars BILLY JOEL and JOAN JETT later this month (OCT06), and say they're thrilled to be recognized by the museum.
Guitarist Ojeda says, "It's always an honour to be part of something like that, especially when you're one of the first ones to be induced into it."
And frontman Snider thinks the Hall of Fame will help Long Island to appreciate its musical heritage, comparing the island to late American comedian RODNEY DANGERFIELD, known for his catchphrase, "I don't get no respect."
He explains, "I think the Long Island Music Hall of Fame will be a great thing for Long Island pride, which is really lacking. We feel like we're a redheaded stepchild to New York - Long Island is the Rodney Dangerfield of the music industry.
"It gets no respect. It's the 'burbs. It's not LA, New York or London. It's Long Island, you know? So (Long Islanders) don't realise the mark we've made."
