CASSIDY 'ON ROAD TO RECOVERY'

LATEST: Rapper CASSIDY is conscious again after suffering a fractured skull in a car crash in New Jersey last week (ends06OCT06).

Cassidy, who was a passenger in a sports utility vehicle and also broke many bones in the left side of his face, is "on the road to recovery" and keen to start recording music again in the near future.

His lawyer SIMON ROSEN tells MTV, "He's a fighter. He wants to get out of the hospital as soon as possible so he can finish up his album. I always joked with him that he was hardheaded, and in this case, it's a blessing he has a hard head.

"(He's) in great spirits, but a bit incoherent at times."

Police allege truck driver JAVIER TRUJILLO GONZALEZ, 36, ran a red light before turning into a junction, where he smashed into the vehicle Cassidy was travelling in. He has been issued with a summons for making in improper turn.
