CASSIDY IN CRITICAL CONDITION AFTER CAR CRASH

Rapper CASSIDY is in a critical condition after being involved in a serious traffic accident in New Jersey on Wednesday (04OCT06) night.

The star, who was a passenger in a sports utility vehicle, suffered a fractured skull and many bones in the left side of his face were broken. He was rushed to an undisclosed hospital.

It is believed a U-Haul truck swerved into oncoming traffic, hitting the vehicle Cassidy - real name BARRY REESE - was travelling in on the way to a recording studio in Yonkers, New York.

Doctors have confirmed the hip-top star's injuries are not life threatening and he is breathing on his own. He underwent a brain scan yesterday (05OCT06) afternoon, although he is not believed to have sustained a brain injury.

Cassidy was one of five people in the SUV, but was the only one to be injured.

In March (06), the rapper was released from a prison in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania after serving eight months for involuntary manslaughter and aggravated assault charges.
