DAVIES HONOURED BY BMI

LATEST: THE KINKS founder and frontman RAY DAVIES paid tribute to his bandmates as he accepted the Icon Award from the Broadcast Music Inc (BMI) in London last night (03OCT06).

The singer/songwriter, 62, was chosen to receive the accolade by the American performing rights organisation for his "unique and indelible influence on generations of music-makers".

Accepting the trophy at the Dorchester Hotel, Davies said, "It's always great to be able to accept things like this for the guys in the band as well.

"They were great. They were my muse."
