DYLAN'S OLD PAL SELLS OFF FIRST TAPED RECORDING

BOB DYLAN's childhood pal is hoping to strike it rich by selling off the folk-rock legend's first recording.

RIC KANGAS recorded the then-BOBBY ZIMMERMAN singing and playing guitar on a tape recorder and promptly forgot about it.

Years later, when he was touring America as an ELVIS PRESLEY impersonator, Kangas came across the tape and now claims he has been told it could be worth as much as $100,000 (GBP55,500).

The tape, which features Dylan singing three songs, will be auctioned off to the highest bidder at Heritage Auction Galleries in Dallas, Texas on 6 October (06).

Kangas, who now lives in California, last met up with Dylan backstage after a show in Memphis, Tennessee in 1974. Of the forgotten taped recordings, he tells Billboard.com, "He kind of sings like a frog."
