TOM JONES' womanising ways once led to his wife of 49 years to physically beat him.

LINDA JONES has stood by her husband's side throughout his career - even when his infidelities left her embarrassed and hurt.

The IT'S NOT UNUSUAL singer reveals his wife has often ignored his philandering but when it hits the newspapers, she rages at him.

And Jones remembers one fight that left him black and blue: "She beat me up one night... I said, 'Look, I'm sorry,' and she'd got the newspaper there.

"I said, 'There it (chin) is,' and she went 'Bang!' and then started kicking me. I took it."
