LATEST: GNARLS BARKLEY producer DANGERMOUSE has confirmed rumours he was responsible for the CD prank on PARIS HILTON's new album, insisting he was merely ''improving on perfection''.
DJ Dangermouse of Gnarls Barkley performing at the 02 wireless festival in Hyde Park. London, England - 23.06.06
The dance impresario teamed up with British guerrilla graffiti artist BANKSY to doctor 500 copies of PARIS, before smuggling them in to HMV music stores around Britain.
The pair, who have both worked with GORILLAZ, replaced Hilton's sugary pop with new beats, while the album artwork has been altered so that Hilton's face is replaced by her dog, and also appears topless. The track listing reads as a series of inane questions, including, "Why am I famous?" and "What am I for?"
Danger Mouse's management released the following statement: "It's hard to improve on perfection, but we had to try."
The CDs, meanwhile, have become collector's items - attracting bids of up to GBP46 ($85) on Internet auction site eBay.

LATEST: JOHN MAYER reportedly ended his brief relationship with JESSICA SIMPSON after members of her entourage leaked intimate details of their relationship to the media.
JOHN MAYER and JESSICA SIMPSON
The budding relationship came to light last week (ends03SEPT06) and Simpson even appeared on the cover of American publication People with the headline "I'm in Love."
Mayer posted a cryptic message on his official website Thursday (31AUG06), when rumours went into overdrive about the pair saying, "Don't believe the hype" and both parties are now back-peddling.
Simpson appeared on US talk show THE VIEW yesterday (05SEPT06) to promote her new album, ironically titled A PUBLIC AFFAIR.
When she was asked by co-host ROSIE O'DONNELL if she was seeing Mayer she said, "I'm actually not dating John Mayer. He's my friend."
The reclusive musician was reportedly shocked when private details of his relationship with Simpson were printed in the press and has since cut off any contact.
A pal of Mayer tells American publication Us Weekly the relationship was "a '2', (but) her camp spun into an '11'."
The friend says the musician has lost respect for Simpson and "now he will stay away from her. He thinks it's desperate. An attempt for her to stay in the spotlight."
A source close to Simpson confirms the relationship has cooled saying, "She met a guy who was scared away by all the attention."
Mayer's pal adds, "It's very clear to John who was pushing this story. And it's also very clear to him that Jessica is under a lot of pressure to sell an album."

"The magazine had used a set of photographs of me in which I was fully clothed and superimposed someone else's midriff over mine to make it look as though I had hardly any clothes on. I couldn't believe it. I wanted to make them stop the magazine. Of course, it was too late."

LATEST: MICHAEL JACKSON has been ordered by a judge to pay $60,000 (GBP33,000) in attorney fees to his ex-wife DEBBIE ROWE as she pursues a custody case against the pop superstar.
Superior Court Judge ROBERT A SCHNIDER gave the singer until 28 September (06) to meet the order.
He did not rule on whether to grant Rowe visitation rights to the couple's two children, PRINCE MICHAEL and PARIS.
Rowe had sought $195,000 (GBP108,000) toward her attorney fees, but Schnider declined, noting that she had received an $8 million (GBP4 million) divorce settlement.
The judge said during his ruling, "She has millions of dollars, so she should be able to contribute to her own fees."
According to Rowe's attorney, ERIC M GEORGE, the judge left open the possibility that she can seek additional fees later.
Neither Rowe nor Jackson, who now lives in Bahrain, attended the hearing.
The couple married in 1996, but filed for divorce in 1999 and Rowe later gave up custody rights to the children.
She asked a judge to reinstate them in 2003 after Jackson had been arrested in child molestation charges.
In February (06) a California state appeals court ruled that her parental right had not been properly relinquished under the law.
Attorneys for both parties are scheduled to meet next Tuesday (12SEPT06) to discuss settling the custody case.
Jackson's attorney MICHAEL ABRAMS adds, "Hopefully all issues will be settled. In one week, this case may be over."

HOLLYWOODLAND
Ben Affleck, Diane Lane and Adrien Brody at the Venice Film Festival 2006 - Premiere of 'Hollywoodland'. Venice, Italy - 31.08.06
Cast: Adrien Brody, Ben Affleck, Diane Lane, Kathleen Robertson, Robin Tunney
Synopsis: Hollywoodland is a uniquely compelling exploration of fame and identity, inspired by one of Hollywood 's most infamous real-life mysteries. The film is the feature directorial debut for Allen Coulter (Emmy and DGA Award nominee for his work on The Sopranos and Sex and the City). June 16, 1959. The glamour of Tinseltown permanently fades for actor George Reeves, the heroic Man of Steel on TV's Adventures of Superman, as the actor dies in his Hollywood Hills home. Felled by a single gunshot wound, Reeves (portrayed in Hollywoodland by Academy Award winner Ben Affleck) leaves behind a fiancée - aspiring starlet Leonore Lemmon (Robin Tunney) - and millions of fans who are shocked by his death. But it is his grieving mother, Helen Bessolo (Lois Smith), who will not let the questionable circumstances surrounding his demise go unaddressed. Helen seeks justice, or at least answers. The Los Angeles Police Department closes the case, but Helen hires - for $50 a day - private detective Louis Simo (Academy Award winner Adrien Brody). Simo soon ascertains that the torrid affair Reeves had with Toni Mannix (Academy Award nominee Diane Lane), the wife of MGM studio executive Eddie Mannix (Academy Award nominee Bob Hoskins), might hold the key to the truth. But truth and justice are not so easily found in Hollywood. Simo pursues dangerous and elusive leads in both high and low places and, in trying to turn up the heat, risks getting burned. The detective also uncovers unexpected connections to his own life as the case turns more personal and he learns more about Reeves himself. Behind the icon was a complex man who gave his life to Hollywood in more ways than one.

MEGAMAN of So Solid Crew arriving for the Pepsi Chart Show. London, England- 30.10.01
The rapper, who is on trial for murder for the third time in London's Old Bailey court, is accused of aiding and abetting friend CARL MORGAN to shoot 24-year-old COLIN SCARLETT in Tooting, south London in 2004.
Megaman was drawn into a spat between Morgan and Scarlett after the latter started seeing Morgan's ex-girlfriend.
The pair reportedly collected a gun and drove to Scarlett's home, where Megaman - real name DWAYNE VINCENT - ordered Morgan to "just do what you came here to do".
JEREMY DONNE, QC prosecuting lawyer, told the jury, "We say those words carry a very clear meaning.
"It is no coincidence that Morgan immediately drew his gun and fired four shots."
Scarlett died of gunshot wounds to the neck and chest.
Morgan, 24, was found guilty of murdering Scarlett last year (05), but Vincent is standing trial for the third time due to "various technical and administrative reasons".
Morgan was said to have killed Scarlett following a fight between the two men earlier in the day, which saw the murder victim attack Morgan in front of his ex-girlfriend - who was then dating Scarlett.
The case continues.

McCulloch, 46, is charged with assaulting fans GARY DUNCAN and JULIET SEBLEY after the band's concert in Glasgow's Barrowlands venue in October (05). The NOTHING LASTS FOREVER denies the charges.
Duncan, a mental health support worker, gave evidence to Justice of the Peace ROBERT HAMILTON at Glasgow District Court yesterday, claiming the singer pushed him repeatedly.
He said he and Sebley were getting ready to leave when they were told they might be able to go backstage.
He added: "Juliet said that she could use the toilet, at which point I asked if there was a toilet we could use." As they made their way across the backstage area towards a smaller room, Duncan spotted McCulloch standing in a doorway, at which point Duncan claims he politely asked, "Excuse me, we're just going to use the toilet."
Duncan claims he and his girlfriend went into separate cubicles and were only there a few minutes when they suddenly heard "fierce roaring and threatening language".
Duncan told the court, "(McCulloch) was threatening to kick the doors in of the toilets if we didn't get out."
On leaving the cubicle, Duncan alleged the star grabbed his jacket and "pushed and pulled him in a threatening manner" for some considerable time until a member of McCulloch's entourage intervened.
Duncan then asked where his girlfriend was, to which he was told by the member of the entourage, "Don't worry, she'll be all right with Mac," which he took to mean McCulloch. He was in a state of "disbelief" when his girlfriend ran past him "in a state of stress and in fear and was clutching her head at her right temple." When he saw her head was bleeding they called the police.
Duncan rejected a suggestion from defence MURRAY MACARA that McCulloch had merely placed his hand on his back and escorted him from a private area of the dressing room.
Sebley also gave evidence yesterday, alleging she heard an altercation between her boyfriend and another man when she was in the toilet cubicle, and she took the other voice to be McCulloch's.
When the voice became abusive, she told the court, "I said 'Please just give me a moment', because I was in a vulnerable situation and hadn't finished. I just remember the door hitting in the side of my head because when it came in I was still sitting on the toilet."
Sebley rejected the suggestion the door had swung open and hit her in the head because it had been unlocked.
The case was adjourned to 18 September (06), when a police interview with the Echo and the Bunnymen star will be heard by the jury.

He says, "He was very used to them and in a lot of parts of the world tourists go into the water and hand feed them and let them crawl over them.

Director OLIVER STONE wants to make another movie about the 9/11 terrorist attacks, because the subject matter is too ''huge'' to cover in one film.
Oliver Stone at the Venice Film Festival 2006 - 'World Trade Center' photocall. Venice, Italy - 01.09.06
The NATURAL BORN KILLERS director's new film WORLD TRADE CENTER has been acclaimed for its touching portrayal of the real-life fire fighters who risked their lives to save others in the rubble of New York's Twin Towers in 2001.
His film, which stars NICOLAS CAGE as real-life 9/11 hero JOHN McLAUGHLIN, has been well received in America, despite some criticism that the movie comes too soon after the tragedy, and that has spurred Stone on to consider a second World Trade Center project.
Stone admits he has uncovered countless tales about the atrocities and he wants to bring them all to the big screen.
At a British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) lecture last night (06SEP06) Stone said, "It (9/11) was huge. I think it's the basis of another film for me.
