MADDEN DATING MONK?

GOOD CHARLOTTE star BENJI MADDEN is dating Australian actress and pop star SOPHIE MONK, according to media reports in the US.

Celebrity gossip columnist PEREZ HILTON claims Madden is seeing the DATE MOVIE star, who parodied PARIS HILTON's burger commercial in the film.

Monk also appeared in the ADAM SANDLER movie CLICK and was previously linked to British stars JASON STATHAM and JUDE LAW.

Madden, 27, was recently reported to be following in the footsteps of twin brother JOEL, by romancing an underage girl - Joel caused controversy by dating HILARY DUFF when he was 24 and she was just 16.

Benji was linked with 17-year-old CALEIGH PETERS, the daughter of movie producer CHRISTINE PETERS, after they were spotted dining together in Los Angeles last month (AUG06).

LEE'S FORMER MANSION STARS IN REALITY SHOW

Rocker TOMMY LEE can't stay away from reality TV in America - because even his old home is a star.

The MOTLEY CRUE drummer's former Malibu, California mansion, which he shared with ex-wife PAMELA ANDERSON, is one of the star attractions on the season premiere of new show MILLION DOLLAR LISTING, which follows realtor-to-the-stars SCOTTY BROWN's efforts to sell hot properties.

Lee sold the six-bedroom spread for $3 million (GBP1.6 million) in 2005 and now the new owner, DAVID JOHNSON, is trying to turn a profit and sell the estate for a cool $3.9 million (GBP2.2 million) - after turning the former rock 'n' roll mansion into a drug rehab centre.

Brown is the perfect man to sell the home, because he used to party there with Lee and Anderson when the actress had a swing hanging in the living room.

The home comes with fixtures and fittings left behind by Tommy Lee.

OPRAH'S DOCTOR HELPED QUEEN LATIFAH QUIT SMOKING

QUEEN LATIFAH has publicly thanked OPRAH WINFREY for helping her to quit smoking.

The CHICAGO star, a self-confessed "avid watcher" of Winfrey's daily talk show, was so distressed when guest DR MEHMET OZ showed the damage caused to smokers' organs at the beginning of 2004, she promised herself she'd get serious about quitting.

Latifah, real name DANA OWENS, recalls, "He brought all these organs and I was struggling to quit smoking around this time, really mentally struggling with it, physically struggling with it.

"I was up to, like, a pack-and-a-half a day, sometimes two packs a day.

"He (Oz) showed a healthy lung and then he showed a lung that had lung cancer. It definitely was frightening to me; it was from then on that I really knew I had to figure out some way to put the pack down.

"Half of it was to make my mother proud, to be able to have a child, to kind of feel proud of myself. I hope to never smoke again. I like myself as a non-smoker. That episode of Oprah may have, quite possibly, saved my life."

The rapper/movie star checked into anti-smoking hiking bootcamp facility, called The Ashram, and spent three weeks fighting her habit with healthy country walks.

One track, a reworking of SANTA'S REINDEER RIDE, is a duet with singer AMY GRANT.

Other seasonal songs include WINTER WONDERLAND, DECK THE HALLS and JINGLE BELLS.

The first single from the album will be original recording I LIKE CHRISTMAS.

BEYONCE BROKE DREAMGIRLS FAST WITH DOUGHNUT FEAST

BEYONCE KNOWLES quickly piled on the weight she drastically lost for new movie DREAMGIRLS by celebrating with a dozen doughnuts when the film wrapped.

To slim down for the film, the pop superstar lost 20 pounds in just two weeks on the 'master cleanse' programme, which consists of fasting and drinking only cayenne pepper, lime and maple syrup-infused water.

And the food-lover admits it was a struggle to stick to the fast, because friends and family wouldn't consider her hunger pains when they were gorging themselves on sweet treats.

Beyonce says, "I was very hungry, therefore I was evil.

"Everyone around me was eating Krispy Kremes (doughnuts) every day, so when we wrapped the movie I was so excited that was the first thing I did; I ate a whole dozen Krispy Kreme doughnuts."

ARCTIC MONKEYS BLAST MEDIA AFTER MERCURY WIN

The ARCTIC MONKEYS were determined to use the opportunity to make life difficult for the media after winning the Mercury Music Prize last night (05SEP06).

Despite being happy to accept the GBP20,000 ($36,000) industry prize for their 2005 debut album WHATEVER PEOPLE SAY I AM, THAT'S WHAT I'M NOT, the cheeky rockers insist their resistance to the mainstream music business will remain as strong as ever - and that includes the press.

The MARDY BUM stars garnered their own publicity using the online networking site MySpace, as well as handing out demos at their gigs - rocketing them to the top of the charts with debut single I BET YOU LOOK GOOD ON THE DANCEFLOOR before the media had even noticed them.

And as a result, the Arctic Monkeys have relished ridiculing journalists ever since.

When asked why the band are so reluctant to be interviewed, one member of the band quipped, "Because your questions are s**t." Frontman ALEX TURNER added, "We're doing a social experiment to see if we needed the media or not. Turns out we didn't."

After a female reporter asked a similar question to one which had already been asked by another journalist, the rocker blasted, "You're rubbish. Pay attention. This is why we hate doing interviews."

JURY SELECTION BEGINS IN GREAT WHITE TRIAL

LATEST: Jury selection began on Tuesday (05SEP06) in the trial of a nightclub owner in Rhode Island over an incident which saw pyrotechnics go awry during a GREAT WHITE show, killing 100 fans in 2003.

Station nightclub owner MICHAEL DERDERIAN faces 200 counts of involuntary manslaughter - two counts for each person who died.

The trial is expected to last several months and will be followed by a trial for his brother, JEFFREY.

Lawyers will spend the next several weeks picking 12 jurors and four alternates from a pool of roughly 500 people.

Potential jurors will been screened over the next few days and will be asked to fill out a 32-page questionnaire.

Lawyers will then spend approximately a week reviewing their answers before deciding who should be dismissed.

TIMBERLAKE + CHASEZ TEAM UP TO PEN + PRODUCE CHEATING SONG

Former 'N SYNC star JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE and JC CHASEZ have teamed up again to write and produce an angry new single about a cheating girlfriend.

Timberlake helped Chasez pen his new single UNTIL YESTERDAY and then the two former bandmates produced the track.

Chasez explains, "It's about your girlfriend getting pregnant by another man."

The pals debuted the new song live last week (31AUG06) at Timberlake's post-MTV Video Music Awards party in New York.

The surprise was topped off by the TRL audience singing HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the pop superstar.

50 CENT TEAMS UP WITH LL COOL J

Rap star 50 CENT is busily producing LL COOL J's last ever album for Def Jam - and the collaboration is proving prolific.

Cool J claims he is looking forward to leaving JAY-Z's hip-hop label in a bid to work with people who are more on his wavelength, although he admits his collaboration with 50 Cent has been intensely creative.

He says, "We did six records in three or four days."

On leaving Def Jam, he adds, "For me, I needed to go and work with somebody who really had my best interests at heart."

TOP SECRET SURI PHOTOS RELEASED WEDNESDAY

LATEST: SURI CRUISE will finally make her public debut five months after her birth, when photos of the baby hit newsstands in the US on Wednesday (06SEPT06).

The hotly anticipated photos of TOM CRUISE and KATIE HOLMES' offspring will appear in the October issue of Vanity Fair magazine.

A source who has seen the cover of the magazine, which features both parents on the cover with Suri, tells American publication Us Weekly, "She's the most precious little girl.

"She has an exotic look - dark hair, fair skin and an adorable doll-like face."

In the magazine, Cruise insists Suri has "Kate's lips and eyes," while Holmes think she looks "more like Tom."

The photos, which were reportedly protected by guards at a Kentucky printing press before being shipped, were shot by celebrity photographer ANNIE LEIBOVITZ at Cruise's retreat in Telluride, Colorado in July (06).

Vanity Fair reporter JANE SARKIN stayed with the couple for five days and found out that Cruise's first date was with Holmes on 18 April (05) - exactly one year before Suri was born.

She also learned that when Cruise proposed to Holmes at the Eiffel Tower in Paris on 17 June (05), the actor got down on one knee and recited a two-page poem he had written.

Holmes revealed during the interview that she reads tabloid reports written about her and her family saying, "It's really frustrating the amount of s**t that's out there."

Cruise and Holmes both claim to be bewildered by the "Where's Suri?" campaign which has dominated the press since the baby's birth.

Cruise claims, "We were always going to release a photo."

Holmes adds, "We weren't trying to hide anything."

BLOOM AND BOSWORTH BREAK-UP

PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN star ORLANDO BLOOM and girlfriend KATE BOSWORTH have reportedly decided to end their four year relationship, according to media reports in the US.

Sources close to the pair confirmed to US news show ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT that the couple had split.

Bloom is currently on location in Southern California shooting PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: AT WORLDS END.

But the break-up could be awkward, as the pair are scheduled to start filming SEASONS OF DUST together later this month (SEP06).

The Depression-era drama features a young woman (Bosworth), whose uncle commits suicide, forcing her to go on the lam with a dashing thief (Bloom).

ANOTHER LOST ACTOR ARRESTED

British LOST star ADEWALE AKINNUOYE-AGBAJE was arrested on Saturday (02SEP06) in Hawaii - joining the ever-growing list of cast members cited for traffic violations on the island.

The 39-year-old actor, who plays MR EKO on the drama, was arrested for disobeying a police officer and driving without a licence.

According to police, he posted $500 (GBP278) bail and was released after spending just over six hours behind bars.

In December (05), MICHELLE RODRIGUEZ and CYNTHIA WATROS were arrested for drink driving. Both pleaded guilty. Six other cast members have been cited, but not arrested.

JOSH HOLLOWAY got a speeding ticket in September (05), while DOMINIC MONAGHAN has been pulled over twice for speeding and was also cited for driving without a licence.

NAVEEN ANDREWS has also been slammed with two speeding tickets and IAN SOMERHALDER has one.

HAROLD PERRINEAU JR was also ticketed for having no motor vehicle insurance during a safety check in Honolulu.

WICKER MAN FAILS TO SCARE DUPREE OFF THE UK BOX OFFICE

NICOLAS CAGE's horror movie THE WICKER MAN has failed to scare YOU, ME AND DUPREE off the top of the UK box office.

The OWEN WILSON and KATE HUDSON comedy took GBP1.16 million ($2.8 million) over the weekend (01-03SEP06), despite competition by new releases The Wicker Man and LITTLE MAN.

Meanwhile, MICHAEL DOUGLAS and KIEFER SUTHERLAND's thriller THE SENTINEL was another new entry, knocking last week's number four CARS down to five.

MOTHER-IN-LAW PAYS RESPECT TO CROCODILE HUNTER IRWIN

Tragic CROCODILE HUNTER star STEVE IRWIN's mother-in-law remembered the late conservationist on TV in America last night (05SEP06) by recalling the Aussie's stirling family values.

Fighting back tears in a phone conversation with LARA SPENCER - the host of news show THE INSIDER - JUDY RAINES explained she'll always remember Irwin as the perfect father.

The Oregon native said, "I wish every child had a father like him. He was such a fun person."

Raines admitted she has resisted trying to contact her daughter, Irwin's widow TERRI, because she knows she has her hands full dealing with her shocking loss.

She added, "I just know she's in a tremendous amount of pressure to talk to the media... and pressure to work out a memorial."

Irwin lost his life on Monday (04SEP06) when he was stabbed through the heart by a stingray while filming an upcoming Animal Planet nature special off the coast of Australia.

ARCTIC MONKEYS WIN MERCURY PRIZE

British chart-toppers the ARCTIC MONKEYS have won the 2006 Mercury Music Prize for their 2005 debut album WHATEVER PEOPLE SAY I AM, THAT'S WHAT I'M NOT.

The MARDY BUM rockers were presented with the GBP20,000 ($36,000) prize from jazz star JOOLS HOLLAND at the ceremony at London's plush Grosvenor House hotel last night (05SEP06) - beating off competition from seasoned stars including THOM YORKE, SCRITTI POLITTI and RICHARD HAWLEY, who also hails from the band's hometown of Sheffield, Northern England.

Frontman ALEX TURNER quipped, "Somebody call 999, Richard Hawley's been robbed!

"Normally it (the award) doesn't go to a band that's sold so many records, to be blunt. We had the best record and the judges agreed with us."

But the band responded spikily when asked why they didn't perform at the bash, sniping, "MUSE didn't either. Why don't you hound them about it?"

Estranged bassist ANDY TURNER will not be receiving a share in the prize money despite playing his part in the album, although the hitmakers insist his portion would go "to a cause he'll agree with".

EVAN DANDO: 'I'M BIPOLAR'

LEMONHEADS frontman EVAN DANDO has confessed he has been struggling with bipolar disease for years.

The MRS ROBINSON singer was 'outed' by longtime pal JULIANNA HATFIELD for an interview in the new issue of rock magazine Spin - and her comments prompted Dando to reveal his depression issues.

Hatfield told the magazine, "He's chemically imbalanced. Seriously... He does things to excess sometimes. He's self-medicating.

"It hasn't been just one thing he's struggled with; he's struggling against his nature."

Dando, who has reformed the Lemonheads for a new album and tour nine years after disbanding the group, admits to the magazine, "Sure, sure, I've been whatever it is, bipolar. At least that's what my shrink says."

BECKHAMS BLAST PREGNANCY RUMOURS

LATEST: VICTORIA and DAVID BECKHAM are not expecting another child, and insist the British sports star simply misunderstood what a Spanish reporter was asking when he allegedly appeared to confirm they were expecting again.

The 31-year-old former English soccer captain was signing autographs and thought the videographer was asking him to confirm rumours of his wife's supposed pregnancy, while in fact she was asking how Victoria and the kids were doing.

A representative for the couple tells American publication People, "She's not pregnant. It's as simple as that."

A couple are already parents to sons BROOKLYN, 7, ROMEO, 3 and CRUZ, 1.

A source close to the family says the couple, who divide their time between Spain and England, do eventually plan to expand their brood.

A friend adds, "Victoria has always wanted a larger family and especially would like a sister for the boys, but the time is not right just yet.

"She's doing designing work, there is a perfume, sunglasses and a TV show in the works. There is just too much going on for her to consider becoming pregnant at this time."
