Synopsis: Paris, 2010. An isolation wall surrounds the ghetto cities. Without rules or laws, gangs reign here as absolute masters, and he who does not die first wins a reprieve, while awaiting his turn. Damien is a member of the police elite task force. Special intervention unit officer and expert in martial arts, he is a past master in the field of infiltration, and well versed in successfully completing his operations through rapid, precise and often strong-arm actions. This time, the government has assigned him the most extreme expedition of his entire career: a weapon of mass destruction has been stolen by the most powerful gang of District B13. Assigned to infiltrate the sector to defuse the bomb, Damien must join hands with Leïto, whose sole goal is to save his sister, who has fallen into the hands of the same gang. He is, moreover, the only one who knows District B13 like the back of his hand. But the story is not so simple. Who exactly works for whom? Where are those who really pull the strings hiding? And above all, who profits from the use of this bomb?

SAY UNCLE

Cast: Gabrielle Union, Anthony Clark, Kathy Najimy, Lisa Edelstein, Peter Paige

Synopsis: Portland-based artist Paul Johnson (Peter Paige), who happens to be gay, returns from his telemarketing job one day to some very distressing news - his closest friends, the Fabers, are moving to Japan, and they're taking Paul's two year-old godson Morgan with them. Shifting into serious denial mode, Paul misses their final departure, but ultimately faces the truth that the Fabers are gone and aren't coming back. When Paul's friend Russell (Anthony Clark) convinces him to 'get back out in the world,' Paul ventures out to play with some kids at the local playground. Inspired to find creative ways to maintain the youthful exuberance he feels, Paul begins to explore every opportunity that might afford him contact with children: working in a toy store, babysitting, advertising himself as a nanny (aka 'manny'), even considering adoption. Watching Paul's natural, playful chemistry with the children, one local mother, Maggie Butler (Kathy Najimy), wonders who this amazing 'Super Dad' is. Upon further investigation, she determines that maybe Paul is up to no good and decides to rally her neighbors to take action. Thus begins a comic clash of suspicion, fear, and misunderstanding in this 'not-quite-black' comedy. Truly, the suburbs are about to get hysterical.

UNKNOWN WHITE MALE

Cast: Doug Bruce, Rupert Murray

Synopsis: Sometime between 8pm on July 1st and 7am on July 3rd, 2003, Doug Bruce lost himself. That morning, riding alone on a New York subway headed towards Coney Island, he could not remember his name, where he worked, who his friends were, how much money he had in his bank account. He was without his identity. UNKNOWN WHITE MALE is the true story of how Bruce, a successful former stockbroker, struggles to learn who he was and who he will become. The documentary, produced, directed and edited by Bruce’s longtime friend, Rupert Murray, chronicles this profound journey. Two MRIs, two CAT scans, 26 blood tests and an army of psychiatrists cannot properly diagnose what turns out to be the rarest and most startling form of memory loss: retrograde amnesia. Was Bruce the victim of a robbery resulting in a slight head injury or the effects of a small cyst on his pituitary gland? Or perhaps is Bruce subconsciously reacting to the death of his mother a few years before? It is a testament to Murray’s smooth but honest narrative that the film asks all the right questions even if many of the answers remain elusive. Murray empathetically walks us through Bruce’s quest. He assembles dozens of childhood photos, decades of home videos, extensive interviews with family members, friends, ex-girlfriends, psychiatrists, neurologists, and philosophers—and the touching participation of Bruce himself. We watch how he reconstructs a life for himself by retaining what he admires about his former self while casting off what—and whom—he dislikes. It is at once a nightmare and a dream come true: a chance at rebirth. We watch Bruce, now 35, play catch up with popular culture and current events, experience the serenity of a snowfall and the bombast of fireworks. And we watch him reconstruct relationships with family members he does not recognize and fall in love with a woman who knows only the post-accident version of her lover. Paraphrasing John Locke, one of the film’s interviewees observes that Bruce is certainly the same man but questionably the same person. Fictional narrative film has long been fascinated by stories of memory loss -- from Hitchcock's SPELLBOUND through to more recent releases such as MEMENTO, MULHOLLAND DRIVE and ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND. Here is a story almost too real for fiction, told with a striking visual style and tremendous heart.
