NAVARRO OPEN TO ANOTHER JANE'S ADDICTION REUNION

Former JANE'S ADDICTION guitarist DAVE NAVARRO has delighted the group's fans by suggesting another reunion could be on the cards.

The current PANIC CHANNEL guitarist and host of reality talent competition ROCK STAR: SUPERNOVA appeared on US talk show JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE and said he'd consider re-teaming - but only if the time were right.

He explained, 'Here's the thing about Jane's Addiction. As much as I love it and it was a huge part of my life, we have reunited three times in our career.

"When enough's enough, you kind of pack it up, and (frontman) PERRY (FARRELL) remains one of my favourite all-time singers and he has a great thing coming out called SATELLITE PARTY.

"Never say never. We got our hands full with Panic Channel. He's got his hands full. I wish him the best. He's a great artist."

AMERICAN IDOL STAR RECOVERING AFTER VEGAS ROBBERY

Former AMERICAN IDOL contestant MIKALAH GORDON was left shaken after being robbed at gunpoint near the Las Vegas, Nevada strip.

The 18-year-old singer and a male friend were on a pavement in a neighbourhood just west of the strip early on Wednesday (23AUG06) when they were accosted.

Gordon reached the finals of the American Idol talent competition last year (05) and is originally from Las Vegas, but now lives in Los Angeles.

According to her mother VICTORIA CAVARICCI, "She's not physically harmed, but she's in a panic."

Thieves reportedly escaped with a mobile phone and five dollars. Las Vegas police have confirmed the robbery and are investigating.

LOS LONELY BOYS INVEST IN TEXAS CHOP SHOP

Latino rockers LOS LONELY BOYS have bought the garage they once worked at in San Angelo, Texas.

Siblings JOJO, RINGO and HENRY GARZA took over the Texican Chop Shop at the beginning of 2006 and the famed vehicle makeover mecca features in their new video DIAMONDS.

Ringo's father-in-law runs the chop shop, which is staffed by family and friends.

Henry says, "It's a body shop that takes care of all customising needs for a car or motorcycle... It's pretty weird to work at a place and come back and own it."

VIDEO SENSATION LANDS TREADMILL HOPPERS OK GO A VMAS SPOT

US rockers OK GO will recreate their famous synchronised treadmill dance routine at the MTV Video Music Awards next week (31AUG06).

The group hit the headlines earlier this month (AUG06) when the clever HERE IT GOES AGAIN promo became an Internet sensation.

The video, in which the four-piece run, skip and dance on gym treadmills, quickly became the most downloaded item in community website MySpace.com's history.

OK Go will join CHRISTINA AGUILERA and SHAKIRA among the performers at the VMAs.

Meanwhile, rocker AXL ROSE, DIDDY and LINDSAY LOHAN have been added to the list of MTV VMA presenters.

CROW KEEN TO EDUCATE PEOPLE ABOUT ANTI-CANCER FOOD CHOICES

Cancer survivor SHERYL CROW has a stern message for fans - don't drink water from plastic bottles left in your car.

The rocker was stunned when she met with a nutritionist shortly after being diagnosed with breast cancer - because he alerted her to all the food choices that may have accelerated her disease.

And now Crow is keen to pass on advice to fans who want to avoid cancer at all costs - and her top tip is for people to be careful what they're drinking from.

She explains, "If it (plastic bottle) gets hot it's omitting by-products that act as cancer... To heat in plastic, to freeze in plastic, it omits carcinogenics, and cooking in olive oil at a high heat; if it's burning it's carcinogenic.

"There are things we need to know and we need to educate people about eating organically."

MUSE LOSE OUT AT KERRANG! AWARDS

Rockers MUSE were surprise losers at last night's (24AUG06) Kerrang! awards in London, converting only one of their impressive five nominations into a gong.

The PLUG IN BABY stars, who have also been tipped for the prestigious Mercury Music Prize this year (06), were up for Best Live Band, Single, Album, Video and Best British Band - but only triumphed in the first.

Far from hanging their heads in shame however, the MATT BELLAMY-fronted group missed the ceremony to give an electrifying performance to a sell-out crowd in Edinburgh, Scotland.

The band were supported by US rockers MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE, who scooped Best Band On The Planet at the Kerrang! awards.

HELEN EARNSHAW, 23, who attended the gig, says, "Muse were absolutely awesome and clearly not disappointed by the Kerrang! snub. They put their warm-up act to shame.

"Kerrang! definitely got it right with the best live band accolade, but Muse deserved more on top."

Welsh group LOSTPROPHETS were the only multiple winners at the ceremony, taking home both Best British Band and Best Album, for LIBERATION TRANSMISSION.

Former STEREOPHONICS drummer STUART CABLE hosted the awards at London's The Brewery, which also saw heavy metal band SLAYER inducted into the Kerrang! Hall Of Fame.

The music magazine presented its Legend award to its first cover star when it launched 25 years ago - ANGUS YOUNG of AC/DC.

DYLAN: 'I'D COVER MY SONGS IF I WASN'T ME'

BOB DYLAN is so proud of the folk-rock anthems he recorded early in his career he'd cover them if they weren't his tunes.

The LAY LADY LAY singer is never surprised with the long list of artists who have recorded his classics - because they're great songs.

He says, "My old songs, they've got something. I think my songs have been covered - maybe not as much as WHITE CHRISTMAS or STARDUST... but there's a list of over 5,000 recordings. That's a lot of people covering your songs... I'd cover my songs too.

"I can still play a lot of those songs... How many other artists made songs during that time? How many do you hear today? I love MARVIN GAYE, I love all that stuff. But how often are you gonna hear WHAT'S GOING ON?

"I mean, who sings it? Who sings TRACKS OF MY TEARS? Where is that being sung tonight?"

CROW GETS HER EYESIGHT FIXED

Rocker SHERYL CROW doubled up on surgery after she was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year (06) - she also had her eyesight fixed.

As well as undergoing a lumpectomy, radiation and extensive cancer treatment, the SOAK UP THE SUN singer also underwent Lasik surgery to correct her sight problems.

She reveals, "I'm great except for if I try to read up close; I can't read up close yet."

DOHERTY'S REHAB COCAINE SHAME

Troubled British rocker PETE DOHERTY's drug dependency has hit the headlines again after he was allegedly caught distributing cocaine to a teenage patient in rehab.

The BABYSHAMBLES frontman, currently undergoing therapy at exclusive London clinic The Priory, was reportedly spotted by a security guard on Tuesday (22AUG06) in the adolescent addiction unit of the centre.

A source tells British newspaper The Sun, "When he walked in Pete was there giving a kid drugs. When this is over he'll most likely be behind bars."

Doherty pleaded guilty to drug possession charges last week (18AUG06), and has been ordered to stay at The Priory until he is sentenced next month (SEP06).

CRUISE'S SECRET YAHOO! MEETING

TOM CRUISE isn't wasting any time in turning his business fortunes around after parting ways with Paramount Studios - he's making waves at Internet media giant Yahoo!

The movie star secretly met with Yahoo! bosses in Santa Monica, California yesterday (24AUG06) - and took wife-to-be KATIE HOLMES along with him.

Dressed smart but casual in jeans, a shirt and a blazer, Cruise looked happy as he left his three-hour meeting at Yahoo! headquarters hand in hand with Holmes, who was dressed for winter in a coat and boats on a sweltering 100-degree California summer day.

The actor refused to discuss what the meeting was about or what plans he has with Yahoo! executives.

The meeting followed a six-hour briefing Cruise hosted with selected studio bosses at trendy restaurant Orso in Los Angeles on Wednesday night (23AUG06).

Cruise was unceremoniously dumped by Paramount boss SUMNER REDSTONE earlier this week (beg21AUG06).

Redstone ended the studio's 14-year relationship with Cruise's production company by telling newspaper The Wall Street Journal he did not approve of the actor's much-publicised antics in the last 12 months.

These included a sofa-jumping incident on the OPRAH show and a stern attack of psychiatry on US breakfast show TODAY.

HILTON SLAMS LOHAN PHONE HACKING CLAIMS

LATEST: PARIS HILTON has furiously denied breaking into unauthorised voice mail boxes, including LINDSAY LOHAN's, after being caught up in a US cell phone scandal.

The hotel heiress was named among 50 SpoofCard users who have had their accounts terminated for allegedly changing what others see on their caller ID display when they receive a phone call.

It has been reported one of the victims of the phone pranks was Hilton's party scene rival Lohan. Last month (JUL06), Hilton was accused in the New York Post of hacking into the actress' BlackBerry and sending offensive messages which appeared to have come from Lohan.

However, Hilton's representative ELLIOT MINTZ retorts, "The comments do not accuse Paris of violating Lindsay's voice mail.

"Also, historically, I can't think of anyone in America who has suffered more public humiliation over the invasion of her privacy as it pertains to communications devices than Paris Hilton."

MAN PLEADS GUILTY IN BABYFACE EXTORTION ATTEMPT

LATEST: A man claiming to be KENNETH 'BABYFACE' EDMONDS' illegitimate son will spend six months in a halfway house after pleading guilty to a misdemeanour intimidation charge.

JOHN TRAVIS CLARK, who tried to extort $9 million (GBP5 million) from the Grammy award-winning musician, was also sentenced to six months probation as part of a plea agreement.

Clark, who has already spent 98 days in jail since his arrest in May (06), was detained after he contacted an attorney for the singer and threatened to go public with his story.

Edmonds did not attend the hearing on Thursday (24AUG06) in an Indianapolis, Indiana courtroom.

He said in a statement, "I want to make it emphatically clear that John Clark is not my son.

"John Clark sought to ruin my reputation by broadcasting his lies to the entire country, which would not only destroy my family, but would resonate loudly in the music industry."

Clark had originally offered to "keep his mouth shut" in exchange for $20 million (GBP11 million), according to court documents.

He later lowered his demand to $9 million (GBP5 million) and met with attorney WILLIAM BRIGGS at an Indianapolis restaurant on 19 May (06), where he was subsequently arrested.

Edmonds has written hits for artists such as WHITNEY HOUSTON, MARY J BLIGE, MARIAH CAREY and BOBBY BROWN.

JAZZ TRUMPETER FERGUSON DIES

Celebrated jazz trumpeter MAYNARD FERGUSON, best known for his recording of the ROCKY theme song, has died. He was 78.

The Canadian musician died on Wednesday (23AUG06) in Ventura, California after suffering liver and kidney failure brought on by an abdominal infection.

Ferguson's death comes just weeks after he and his BIG BOP NOUVEAU band recorded a new album and enjoyed several sold out performances at the famed Blue Note Club in New York City.

He regularly performed for packed houses and played with music legends such as COUNT BASIE, DUKE ELLINGTON, DIZZY GILLESPIE, CHARLIE BARNETT, JIMMY DORSEY and STAN KENTON.

Ferguson went on to become the leader of his own big band in 1946 and recorded more than 60 albums, receiving numerous honours including a Grammy nomination for his song GONNA FLY NOW.

In 2005, Ferguson was awarded Canada's highest civilian honour, the Order of Canada.

He was preparing for a tour in September (06) in Tokyo, Japan and had been invited to play for the King of Thailand's 80th birthday in January (07).
