BEYONCE KNOWLES recreates SHARON STONE's famous BASIC INSTINCT interrogation scene in her angry new video RING THE ALARM and then lets fans see her at her lowest point.

Acting the part of a spurned lover in the new promo, the R+B queen appears before a police panel, sitting on a chair and wearing a white dress just like Stone's CATHERINE TRAMELL character did for her provocative crotch spot in 1992.

But Beyonce isn't pushing the bounds of decency - when she crosses and uncrosses her legs, video viewers will see nothing.

The interrogation scenes aren't the most shocking in the video, however - shots of a make-up-free Beyonce on the verge of tears are sure to stir up more emotions among fans.

And for her lusty male devotees, the former DESTINY'S CHILD singer adopts a JENNIFER LOPEZ ponytail look for angry scenes in which she's apprehended by military police.

Wearing nothing but a loosely-buttoned overcoat and knee-length leather boots, the sexy singer almost pops out of her costume as she angrily fires off at the cops.

ADKINS BEMUSED BY HONKYTONK BADONKADONK CONTROVERSY

TRACE ADKINS has fired back at the feminists who have lashed out at his raunchy videos for tunes like HOT MAMA and HONKYTONK BADONKADONK, insisting they're failing to get his joke.

The country star's promos have come under fire from women's rights groups, who claim Adkins is glorifying womanising and holding up females as sex objects.

The singer fumes, "That is so crazy to me... I almost take it as an insult to my intelligence. Do they think that I am so incredibly stupid to do something to exploit women when I am the father of five beautiful daughters? I mean, c'mon."

Adkins is also perplexed by those who were offended by his "slap your grandma" line on his bar anthem Honkytonk Badonkadonk.

He adds, "It's just an old Southern expression. All it means is that this woman is so ridiculously hot... that it would make me do the unthinkable - slap my grandma.

"That's the last thing I would ever do. If someone was holding a gun to my head, I wouldn't slap my grandma.

"For people to take that literally, it just amazes me... I know what's right. I just don't always do right. And you don't, either.

"But stop holding me to a higher standard than you hold yourself. I'm just saying things out loud that you won't say -but you think them. So give me a medal for bravery, and go about your way."

USHER TO WOW BROADWAY WITH FANCY FOOTWORK

R+B sensation USHER is struggling to cope with the strict rehearsing schedule for his role in Broadway musical CHICAGO, but vows his hard work will pay off on the night.

The 27-year-old star will be the youngest man ever to play BILLY FLYNN when he steps in to do eight shows a week on the New York City stage.

He explains, "You know, when you're on tour with a concert, you kind of call the shots yourself.

"You can show up late sometimes and you can kind of do your own thing up. Now, with this, that's not exactly the case!"

The show's musical director decided to add a new solo dance sequence during the song RAZZLE DAZZLE to give Usher a chance to show off his new-found moves.

He adds, "I learned to tap dance. I taught myself. In some ways, I don't know exactly what to expect.

"But I'm here for all of it, that's the challenge. If you don't challenge yourself, no one will."

50 CONVINCED THE GAME'S SECOND ALBUM WILL BE A FLOP

50 CENT has little faith in his former protege THE GAME's ability to deliver with his second album - because he won't have the IN DA CLUB rapper's rhymes to work with.

50 and The Game famously fell out last year (05) after the Los Angeles-based rapper spoke out in favour of his G-Unit boss' rap rivals, and the pair have been publicly feuding ever since.

But after The Game insisted he'd finished fighting with 50 in a recent magazine article, the Queens rap mogul has poked fun at his former pal's songwriting skills.

50 tells rap magazine XXL, "I don't think it's (Game's new album) going to be interesting. I think it's going to be what it was before I wrote his hits.

"I wrote six records for his album, three of them were his first three singles. Can he rap? Yeah. Is he a good songwriter? No."

And 50 Cent can't lose - if The Game's new album, tentatively titled THE DOCTOR'S ADVOCATE, is a flop the G-Unit kingpin proves he's the man behind his protege's success and, thanks to a clever deal, he'll reap the financial benefits if The Game scores another hit.

50 explains, "I'll make more money off a Game record every time it comes out than he will. It doesn't bother me if he sells records. I don't believe he will."

KEANE STAR ADMITS DRUG ADDICTION

LATEST: KEANE frontman TOM CHAPLIN has confessed addictions to alcohol and cocaine are the reasons the British band have cancelled a string of gigs across Europe.

The singer previously cited exhaustion for the ditched shows in Spain, Scotland and Ireland beginning later this month (AUG06), but now reveals he's checked into celebrity rehabilitation clinic The Priory to overcome his problems.

Chaplin was admitted to the centre last Monday (14AUG06) but was temporarily released to perform at this weekend's (19-20AUG06) V Festivals in Staffordshire and Essex.

He says, "I've admitted myself to The Priory to get the professional help I need to overcome my increasing problem with drink and drugs.

"I'm looking forward to sorting myself out and getting back to playing again as soon as possible."

CULTURE LEADER DEAD AT 57

Reggae star JOSEPH HILL has died in Berlin, Germany during his group CULTURE's European tour. He was 57.

The cause of the singer/songwriter's death on Saturday (19AUG06) was still a mystery as WENN went to press.

His bandmates plan to continue with the tour, recruiting Hill's son KENYATTA as the new frontman.

During his 30 years with the traditional roots group, the Jamaican star, a devout Rastafarian, wrote and performed reggae classics like I'M NOT ASHAMED and TWO SEVENS CLASH.

He was honoured by the Jamaican government in 2005 for his contribution to the island's culture.

50 CENT: 'MCGRIFF IS NOT MY FATHER'

Rapper 50 CENT has blasted reports suggesting incarcerated drug kingpin KENNETH 'SUPREME' McGRIFF is his father, insisting people are taking his 2005 film too literally.

In movie flop GET RICH OR DIE TRYIN' 50's arch-foe, McGriff, is loosely portrayed in character form as MAJESTIC (ADEWALE AKINNUOYE-AGBAJE).

In the film, Majestic is connected to the death of the mother of 50 Cent's character MARCUS - and there's a suggestion the thug could be Marcus' biological father.

But 50, real name CURTIS JACKSON, insists the film's villain came from the mind of director JIM SHERIDAN - and he's upset that fans now think jailed felon McGriff is the rapper's dad.

He blasts, "He's not my father. I can't stand that n**ga... I wasn't accusing him of f**king killing my mother. That's the way they make the character darker."

McGriff stands accused of ordering a 'hit' on 50 Cent in 2000 and faces the death penalty for orchestrating a string of murders and dealing drugs.

Synopsis: It's New Year's Eve and festivities have begun aboard the luxury cruise ship Poseidon, at sea the North Atlantic. Tonight, many of the ship's guests have gathered to greet the new year in style in the magnificent Main Ballroom. They raise champagne glasses as Captain Bradford (ANDRE BRAUGHTER) delivers a holiday toast and the band (led by STACY FERGUSON, aka FERGIE of the BLACK EYED PEAS) rolls into a version of 'Auld Lang Syne.' Enter Zack Bradley (Dane Cook) and Vince Downey (Dax Shepard), two ultra competitive Super Club workers whose ten years of employment have resulted in drastically different career paths. While Vince – with the aid of his trusty sidekick Jorge (Efren Ramirez) -- has advanced to become head cashier and winner of 17 consecutive 'E of M' awards, Zack is the ultimate slacker whose scruffy appearance and laid back attitude has made him popular with his colleagues, but kept him stuck in the lowly ranks of the store's box boys.

THE DARKNESS DENY LABEL AXE

Flamboyant rockers THE DARKNESS have blasted reports they've been dropped by their record label, despite confirming frontman JUSTIN HAWKINS has entered rehab for substance abuse.

The singer checked himself into London clinic The Priory earlier this month (12AUG06) sparking frenzied speculation the band would be axed by Atlantic records.

However, representatives for the British group retort, "We would however like to make it clear that this emphatically does not signal the end for The Darkness nor are their label Atlantic Records considering 'dropping' them.

"On the contrary, they have taken up their option with the band and are looking forward to releasing the Darkness' third album in early 2007."

The group's second album ONE WAY TICKET TO HELL... AND BACK was critically panned and failed to make an impact in the charts on its release last year (05).

RAMSAY EYES PUB CHAIN

Celebrity chef GORDON RAMSAY is to swap haute cuisine for pub grub when he opens a chain of bars in Britain.

The foul-mouthed HELL'S KITCHEN star is already drawing up plans with business managers to snap up a number of country pubs to sit alongside famed eateries Claridge's and The Savoy Grill in his food empire.

CHRIS HUTCHESON, chief executive of Gordon Ramsay Holdings and Ramsay's father-in-law, says, "What we are looking at now is a move into pubs that serve food. I don't mean gastro-pubs - I mean good food."

The busy chef is also preparing to open restaurants in New York and Florida in October (06) and Los Angeles early next year (07).

She explains, "Most days I'm in my garden, in sweatpants, with the children. It's so nice to have a big garden with a lawn in the middle of the city. In New York, we just don't have that sort of thing.

"I love the idea that I can get dressed up and go to galleries or the theatre, but then I come back to the quiet Hampstead area, which is like Santa Monica, California, where I grew up when I was little.

PACEMAKER FOR FORMER PRESIDENT FORD

LATEST: Former US President GERALD FORD is enjoying the benefits of a cardiac pacemaker after being hospitalised with "shortness of breath" last week (15AUG06).

The 93-year-old is resting "comfortably" after the operation to improve his heart's performance at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

Ford's assistant, PENNY CIRCLE, said in a statement, "Former President Gerald R Ford has completed an evaluation and series of tests resulting in the implantation of a cardiac pacemaker.

"The procedure this afternoon went smoothly and without incident.

"(He) is resting comfortably with his wife and children and is expected to continue his recuperation at Mayo Clinic for the next several days."

Republican Ford took office in 1974, when RICHARD NIXON resigned after the Watergate scandal, and was succeeded by Democrat JIMMY CARTER in 1976. He is the oldest living former US president.

DIRECTOR ANDERSON JAILED FOR CHILD SEX

Former Hollywood movie-maker DAVID ANDERSON has been sentenced to seven and a half years behind bars for "depraved" sex acts on young girls.

The 65-year-old director, who worked on FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE and THE DEER HUNTER, was in England's Gloucester Crown Court yesterday (21AUG06) to hear his fate. He fled his trial last year (05) on the third day, but the jury continued to convict him of eleven counts of indecent assault and gross indecency in his absence. Anderson was recaptured two months ago (JUN06) in Dublin, Ireland.

Judge JAMIE TABOR QC slammed Anderson's filming of sex acts with young drug addicts in his UK flat as "simply unacceptable."

He said, "You are a man of previous good character and a film director of some repute. But you met exceptionally vulnerable people and exploited them.

"You acted in a truly depraved way and one of the great worries in this case is that you do not appear to accept the harm you have done."

Anderson maintained the filming was "research" for a planned porn movie.
