KIMBALL ATTACKED AT PARTY

US pop star CHEYENNE KIMBALL was assaulted at a wrap party for her MTV reality show CHEYENNE, after a bandmember's wife became enraged when the singer chatting to her husband.

The 16-year-old star was talking to bassist JOEY CLEMENTE at the 4 August (06) party at West Hollywood hotspot Guy's, when his wife MICHELLE became overwhelmed with jealousy.

A source tells American publication Us Weekly, "She didn't like the interaction, so she punched Cheyenne in the face!

"Cheyenne and Joey are friends, nothing more. The poor girl got assaulted at her own party!"

Kimball's mother SHANNON had the woman ejected from the event and she was later seen crying outside the club.

A representative for Kimball says, "Cheyenne was caught in an unfortunate situation. She harbours no ill will."

WORKAHOLIC TIMBERLAKE HEEDED DAD'S ADVICE

JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE took time away from his pop career after a heart-to-heart chat with his father, who told his son he was becoming a workaholic.

The pop superstar took more than two years off after recording and promoting his solo debut album JUSTIFIED after his concerned dad told him to take time for himself before it was too late.

Timberlake tells MTV News, "I had performed my songs so much. You end up playing for 18 months. You go to the venue, you do the show, you leave, you get on a bus, you go to the venue... It feels like (movie) GROUNDHOG DAY. I was just burned out.

"The break for me came out of a conversation with my dad because he knows me so well.

"He pointed out, 'You're a workaholic, and, take it from me, I'm almost 50... Do the things that you can do while you're in your twenties; enjoy your life, enjoy what you've worked so hard for,' and it was really tough for me.

"I felt like, 'Oh man, I'm never gonna be able to get back to where I was. As three or four months went by I started to enjoy being (and) having that seclusion. I felt like you start to see the things that you're missing, so, when I started to really breathe for a second, I was like, 'Wow!'"

BARKER: 'I STILL LOVE SHANNA'

LATEST: BLINK 182 drummer TRAVIS BARKER insists he is still in love with estranged wife SHANNA MOAKLER, despite posting a scathing message about her on the internet.

The 30-year-old posted the barbed attack on his MySpace page on Monday (14AUG06), and accused Moakler of partying and neglecting their children.

Barker tells American publication People, "I was hearing things in the press that Shanna was saying about me and it got to the point where it got so foul and so false that I wanted my fans to hear from me directly."

Although he only posted the message a few days ago, he claims he no longer feels any animosity towards his estranged wife: "I'm not in the angry phase at all because I'm still absolutely in love with Shan."

The rocker claims the pair have been hit by the "MTV curse", which he claims strikes couples who have filmed reality shows for the network, including JESSICA SIMPSON and NICK LACHEY, and CARMEN ELECTRA and DAVE NAVARRO.

He explains, "I think putting your relationship out there for people to interpret and have their own opinion about, I think it's crazy.

"Ours was different 'cause it showed a young couple who could still get down and reach their goals and dreams. But I still feel like it puts a lot of stress on the relationship."

Moakler has hit back at Barker for going public with their personal affairs saying, "(His) airing of our dirty laundry in the media is not conducive to the well-being of my children, and I want no part of it."

TIMBERLAKE: 'I VETOED 'N SYNC REUNION'

JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE accepts he's to blame for 'N SYNC's permanent split, because he was reluctant to reform the boy band when there was a chance to reunite two years ago (04).

The pop supergroup hinted at a possible reunion tour but plans failed to materialised - and now Timberlake admits that's partly his fault.

He tells MTV News, "I guess I can take the blame for it... It's one thing to say, 'Hey, let's get back together and let's do something,' but then you say, `OK, but what are we gonna do?'

"What we did doesn't work now. How would we reinvent what we do?

"We don't look like we used to, we don't move like we used to and I'm sure we don't sound like we used to."

But Timberlake, who is now one of the world's top solo performers, refuses to dismiss his boy band days: "Even though we were part of a phenomenon, we still did it our way, we enjoyed it, we had a blast.

"I was 17 and, for those four or five years, it was crazy and I enjoyed every minute of it."

KNOWLES WARNS WOMEN TO AVOID MAPLE SYRUP DIET

LATEST: R+B superstar BEYONCE KNOWLES has warned women not to adopt the maple syrup diet she used to lose weight for an upcoming film role.

The former DESTINY'S CHILD frontwoman lost 20 pounds (nine kilograms) in just 10 days in the run up to filming the part of DINA in the movie DREAMGIRLS.

And she has come under fire from leading dieticians for revealing how she survived on just maple syrup mixed with water, lemon juice and cayenne pepper - because fans are sure to mimic her.

Dietician ALISON CHIPPERFIELD, who works with British group Weight Concern, said, "(Maple syrup dieters) will probably end up in hospital, especially people who try it for more than 10 days."

And Knowles, 24, agrees: "I would never recommend it to anyone unless you are doing a movie and it's necessary, and you have proper help. There are ways to lose weight healthily if you want to lose weight, but this was for a film."

She adds, "It's great because I look at the movie and I don't recognise myself - which was the point! The funnest part was putting the weight back on and eating my doughnuts and all the other things, so now I'm back to my body.

"I'm very conscious of being a curvy woman and I'm very happy that I am a curvy woman."

TIMBERLAKE BANS LOHAN FROM LA SHOW

JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE has reportedly refused LINDSAY LOHAN entry to his showcase concert in Los Angeles on Saturday (19AUG06), because he doesn't want the MEAN GIRLS actress stealing his limelight.

The 25-year-old is set to perform new material from upcoming second solo album FUTURESEX/LOVESOUNDS, and is concerned Lohan could steal his headlines with her outrageous behaviour, reports British newspaper The Sun.

An industry insider says, "Justin's gig at the House Of Blues will be packed with Hollywood A-listers and a lot of important names in music.

"The last thing his label want is Lindsay getting drunk and making a spectacle of herself, taking attention away from Justin and his new album.

"He has a lot riding on his big comeback and doesn't need any distractions."

June 16, 1959. The glamour of Tinseltown permanently fades for actor George Reeves, the heroic Man of Steel on TV's Adventures of Superman, as the actor dies in his Hollywood Hills home. Felled by a single gunshot wound, Reeves (portrayed in Hollywoodland by Academy Award winner Ben Affleck) leaves behind a fiancée - aspiring starlet Leonore Lemmon (Robin Tunney) - and millions of fans who are shocked by his death. But it is his grieving mother, Helen Bessolo (Lois Smith), who will not let the questionable circumstances surrounding his demise go unaddressed. Helen seeks justice, or at least answers. The Los Angeles Police Department closes the case, but Helen hires - for $50 a day - private detective Louis Simo (Academy Award winner Adrien Brody). Simo soon ascertains that the torrid affair Reeves had with Toni Mannix (Academy Award nominee Diane Lane), the wife of MGM studio executive Eddie Mannix (Academy Award nominee Bob Hoskins), might hold the key to the truth.

But truth and justice are not so easily found in Hollywood. Simo pursues dangerous and elusive leads in both high and low places and, in trying to turn up the heat, risks getting burned. The detective also uncovers unexpected connections to his own life as the case turns more personal and he learns more about Reeves himself. Behind the icon was a complex man who gave his life to Hollywood in more ways than one.

PALTROW FEELS 'SPARK' AGAIN

GWYNETH PALTROW is relishing being back at work after a two-year hiatus, because she feared she'd lost her passion for acting forever.

The Oscar winner took two years out from the movie industry to care for her children - APPLE, two, and MOSES, four months - and settled into her housewife role with ease, believing she had achieved everything she wanted two.

But the 33-year-old, who is married to COLDPLAY frontman CHRIS MARTIN, has rediscovered her spark, but insists she will only work on uplifting projects in future.

She says, "For a long time, I thought, 'I've done it. I've done what I wanted to do. I'm not interested. I just want to be home with my family.'

"I had no spark for work, but I feel the feeling back. And I'm excited about the prospect. I want to do something kind of fun. I don't want to do anything depressing or mad. I want to do a really great, funny, weird character."

PITT AND JOLIE LEAVING MALIBU?

BRAD PITT and ANGELINA joined are packing up and leaving their beachfront compound in Malibu, California, for Los Angeles' trendy Los Feliz neighbourhood.

The couple and their three children - MADDOX, five, ZAHARA, 19 months and SHILOH, three months - have only been back in the US for a short time following their extended stay in Namibia, but are already moving on.

Pitt has spent more than a decade buying and renovating in Los Feliz and has amassed a three-property compound.

The brood is currently splitting their time between the two homes, but sources report Pitt intends to make Los Feliz the family's primary residence.

The architecture buff has reportedly invested an estimated $4 million (GBP2.2 million) in the properties, which include a stone house once occupied by ELVIRA actress CASSANDRA PETERSON, a California Craftsman, and a post-and-beam property built in the 1950s.

Pitt purchased the first of the three properties in 1994 and has been renovating ever since.

A source tells American publication Us Weekly, "Brad's turned the compound into a Neverland-like place."

The couple have turned a ballroom into a massive playroom and there is a pool and a large fountain in the centre of the main house.

According to a source, "It's meant to be a kids' paradise, where they can just run wild."

HILTON TO FRONT US TV SHOW

PARIS HILTON has landed her biggest TV role yet after signing up to present new talent show AMERICA'S CUTEST PUP.

THE SIMPLE LIFE star is expected to be joined by her pet chihuahua TINKERBELL on the W Network show, with auditions for pet pooches getting underway next month (OCT06).

A source tells British newspaper The Sun, "Contestants from all around the US will enter their beloved hounds into a national competition to find the best. Viewers will vote for their favourites and Paris will host."

BREAK IN RAMSEY MURDER CASE AS SUSPECT IS ARRESTED IN THAILAND

The JONBENET RAMSEY murder case has hit the headlines again in America after police in Thailand arrested a man they claim is a potential suspect on Tuesday night (15AUG06).

The six-year-old beauty pageant regular was found beaten and strangled to death in the basement of her Colorado home in December 1996. This is the first arrest related to the case in 10 years.

US law enforcement officials have revealed that 41-year-old schoolteacher JOHN MARK CARR was arrested in Bangkok. Police in Colorado are flying to Thailand to question him and return him to America to face possible charges.

The latest break in the case comes after years of speculation and suspicion surrounding JonBenet Ramsey's parents. The dead girl's mother, PATSY, died in June (06) after losing her battle with cancer.

Following this week's arrest, an insider at the Boulder, Colorado, District Attorney's office has stated that law officials in the Ramsey's home state do not believe that JonBenet's parents were involved in the little girl's slaying in any way.

In 2003, an Atlanta, Georgia, judge concluded that the evidence she reviewed suggested an intruder killed JonBenet.

ANDY LAU TO BE CROWNED ASIAN FILM-MAKER OF THE YEAR

Hong Kong icon ANDY LAU will be crowned Asian Film-Maker Of The Year at Korea's Pusan International Film Festival (PIFF) in October (06).

The PIFF is the most prestigious gathering of the Asian film industry and the actor/producer/singer has been chosen for his "significant contribution to Asian cinema".

A statement reads: "PIFF recognised Lau's dedication of searching for Asian film-making talents and promoting Asian cinema as a producer and actor, and decided to present him the Asian Film-Maker Of The Year Award."

Previous recipients of the coveted prize include Iranian director MOHSEN MAKHMALBAF and Taiwanese film-maker HOU HSIAO HSIEN.

COUNTRY STAR GENTRY INDICTED ON BEAR KILLING CHARGES

Country star TROY LEE GENTRY has been caught up in a hunting scandal after allegedly buying and killing a tame bear in 2004.

The MONTGOMERY GENTRY singer is facing charges of hunting the black bear with a bow and arrow in an enclosed pen in Minnesota and then 'tagging' the beast as a wild kill.

In court in Duluth, Minnesota on Tuesday (15AUG06), Gentry, 39, and hunting guide LEE MARVIN GREENLY faced allegations the bear was killed on Greenly's estate, not in the wild as they reported.

The incident was captured on videotape and then edited to make it look as if Gentry shot the animal in a "fair chase" hunting situation.

Prosecutors alleged Gentry paid Greenly more than $4,500 (GBP2,500) for the chance to kill the bear.

If convicted the rocker and his pal face up to five years in prison.

Gentry's manager, JOHNNY DORRIS, insists the country singer is not the criminal in this case, stating, "He relied on the knowledge and expertise of a local guide to obtain the proper permit.

"Troy felt what he did was legal and in full compliance of the law and was surprised to hear of the indictment."
