AFFLECK SHIED AWAY FROM MEDIA AFTER BENNIFER MADNESS

BEN AFFLECK spent two years away from the media glare following the end of his relationship with JENNIFER LOPEZ, because he couldn't endure more negative press.

Affleck appeared to be transformed from a serious actor to a groomed celebrity boyfriend when he started dating his GIGLI co-star Lopez in June 2002.

When the couple, dubbed Bennifer by the press, ended their engagement in January 2004, Affleck took time out of film-making to focus on getting his life back on track.

In July 2004, Affleck began dating his DAREDEVIL co-star JENNIFER GARNER, before they married and became parents to daughter VIOLET last year (05).

Recalling the height of the Bennifer criticisms, he says, "You can't help but feel injured by it. You're like, 'That's not me.'

"For a long time I got frustrated by it and expected truth and integrity... You realise it's kind of a game, it's a manipulation.

"I didn't want to have part of that so I backed off from doing movies, did some movies for money and then took a break."
