MADONNA OF MEXICO SUED BY PROMOTER

Mexican pop star GLORIA TREVI is being sued for failing to honour a verbal performance contract and allegedly repay the initial fee she received.

Promoter MIGUEL ANGEL GARCIA claims Trevi, dubbed 'the Madonna of Mexico', pulled out of three concerts she agreed to perform last October (05) and, to date, hasn't returned the $87,000 (GBP48,300) fee she was paid as part of a $220,000 (GBP122,000) salary.

In court papers filed in Los Angeles earlier this week (beg07AUG06) and obtained by website TMZ.com, Garcia claims he was "damaged to the sum of $800,000 (GBP444,400)" when Trevi refused to honour her verbal contract with him.

Garcia is demanding compensatory damages of at least $800,000 (GBP444,400), punitive and exemplary damages and the payment of all costs he incurs in his legal action.
