LUCAS GREENLIGHTS 20-MINUTE STAR WARS PLAY

STAR WARS creator GEORGE LUCAS has stunned fans of the film franchise by agreeing to let an irreverent comedy troupe turn the epic sci-fi saga into a 20-minute stage romp.

Lucas has become famous for keeping a controlling interest in all Star Wars-related projects and merchandise, but he has given permission for the 13-hour Star Wars saga to be shortened by the REDUCED SHAKESPEARE COMPANY.

The troupe is famous for revamping WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE's 37 plays into a fast-paced 97-minute production.

The Reduced Shakespeare Company's players have also staged productions surrounding the history of America and THE BIBLE.

The troupe plans to stage their reduced Star Wars later this month (AUG06). The project will be filmed for release later this year.
