COXON BLASTS MAINSTREAM AUDIENCES

Former BLUR guitarist GRAHAM COXON has no desire to top the charts as a solo artist - because he would have to dumb down his music to appeal to ''idiots''.

The COUNTRY HOUSE hitmaker, who left the hugely successful band in 2002, believes the majority of Britain's music-buying public have no taste in music.

He says, "As time goes by, it gets harder and harder and sales will probably plummet.

"I like music that isn't part of a trend. I'd hate my music to be devalued as to be bought by every t*at in this country. Let's face it, a huge percentage of this country's population are idiots.

"I have the proof that once you do start selling millions of records to idiots the shows you play and the life you lead become problematic. I'm not bothered. I just want to be happy. And if that's making really insane music then that's neat.

"If anyone else likes it, that's a bonus."
