A spokesperson for the Detroit Police Department said yesterday (17JUL06) a man who first contacted police on Thursday (13JUL06), withdrew his complaint over the weekend (ends16JUL06), ending the brief police investigation into the matter.

The spokesperson didn't reveal the reason behind the alleged victim's reversal.

The man, named by a local Detroit news affiliate as MIAD J, told the news station he had been using a urinal next to Eminem, real name MARSHALL MATHERS, when another man entered the room and struck up a conversation with the rapper.

At that point, Miad J claims one of Eminem's bodyguards warned the man to keep quiet.

Miad J said he told the bodyguard to not be so hard on the star-struck man and that's when he was allegedly assaulted.

He said at the time, "Eminem got done...he started swinging. I wasn't even expecting it. I was just minding my own business."

Police said on Friday (14JUL06) that detectives were "very interested" in speaking with Eminem and anyone else involved in the alleged incident.

A spokesperson for the Cheetah club on Detroit's famed 8 Mile Road confirmed to the Detroit Free Press newspaper a fight had occurred inside the club and that Eminem was involved, but declined further comment.
