GILLESPIE ATTACKED IN MADRID HOTEL BAR

PRIMAL SCREAM frontman BOBBY GILLESPIE has a broken nose and two black eyes after a stranger assaulted him in an ''unprovoked attack'' in Madrid, Spain.

The ROCKS singer sustained his injuries in a hotel bar on Friday (14JUL06) night.

As a result, the rocker arrived 12 hours late for a pre-recorded performance on British TV show TOP OF THE POPS yesterday (16JUL06), after doctors advised him to rest.

A band spokesman says, "There was an incident in Madrid on Friday.

"Bobby was in the hotel bar when a guy lunged at him in an unprovoked attack that left him with facial injuries.

"The band was late for the show because doctors advised him not to fly until Sunday.

"Top Of The Pops were very understanding and they performed as expected that evening."

An insider adds, "Bobby turned up for filming sporting two nasty-looking black eyes and a swollen nose. He looked like he had taken one hell of a beating."
