QUINCY/CAINE: 'WE'RE TWINS'

Actor SIR MICHAEL CAINE has hailed music mogul QUINCY JONES his ''celestial twin'' because they were born within minutes of each other.

SIR MICHAEL CAINE and QUINCY JONES

The pair became good pals when Caine approached the THRILLER producer to arrange the theme tune for cult movie THE ITALIAN JOB, and their friendship deepened when they discovered the strange coincidence.

Both stars were born at almost identical times on 14 March 1933 - Caine in London, England, and Jones in Chicago, Illinois.

Speaking at the BBC Jazz Awards in the British capital last night (13JUL06), where Quincy picked up a Lifetime Achievement Award, he said, "We were born the same year, month, day and hour so I feel I know this sucker pretty well. I'm so proud I hit the planet the same day as him.

"(ALBERT) EINSTEIN shares our birthday but he couldn't act, couldn't play music, couldn't speak cockney rhyming slang... Did I tell you Michael Caine is my cockney rhyming slang guru?"

Caine added, "We call each other celestial twins."
