FOXY BROWN TRIAL DATE DELAYED

LATEST: Rapper FOXY BROWN will have to wait for her day in court - her assault trial has been delayed until next month (AUG06).

The rap star, real name INGA MARCHAND, is being sued by two nail salon workers after she allegedly lashed out at them in a fracas over the cost of a manicure in 2004.

Brown was in court in Manhattan, New York City, yesterday (12JUL06) when judge MELISSA JACKSON delayed the trial, which was supposed to begin next week (begs17JUL06).

Jackson also extended a protection order requested by the salon workers against Brown.

The 26-year-old rap star is charged with misdemeanour assault for allegedly kicking one employee and smacking a second worker in the face.

Meanwhile, Brown failed to attend a New Jersey court on Tuesday (11JUL06) to testify in a harassment suit filed by her former assistant RASHEEDA ELLIS.

She stands accused of making "terroristic threats" and "verbally abusing" Ellis in emails and phone calls after her ex-employee.

An official from the Jersey City Municipal Court said there was no arrest warrant for the rapper because her accuser also failed to show up.
