BRITISH ROCKERS ATTACK MTV PRESENTER

British rockers DIRTY PRETTY THINGS attacked MTV UK presenter ZANE LOWE when he told them to stop smoking backstage at this weekend's (08-09JUL06) Oxegen festival in Ireland.

The BANG BANG YOU'RE DEAD hitmakers - frontman CARL BARAT, guitarist ANTHONY ROSSOMANDO, bassist DIDZ HAMMOND and drummer GARY POWELL - were busy drinking after their performance and were in no mood to be told what to do.

An onlooker says, "The band were on a bender and lit up in a no-smoking area.

"When Zane asked them to stop, Didz punched him and the others joined in."

A spokesperson for MTV is keen to play down the seriousness of the incident: "Luckily Zane was OK and didn't make a fuss about it."
