American opera singer DEBORAH VOIGT is set to make a triumphant return to London's Royal Opera House, two years after she was dropped from a 2004 production for allegedly being overweight.
The buxom soprano was ousted from her role in ARIADNE AUF NAXOS after the production's casting director feared she would not be flattered by the black evening dress she was required to wear.
Voigt, who was replaced by slimmer singer ANNE SCHWANEWILMS, subsequently underwent stomach stapling surgery and shed 61 kilograms and will take on the role of ARIADNE in the Royal Opera House's 2007-2008 production of Ariadne Auf Naxos.
Her spokesperson ALERT IMPERATO says, "She's very, very excited.
"She's just definitely felt like, 'I've not had a chance to really build my career in London, it's a major opera capital.'"
"It was very sad for her that she didn't get a chance to do Ariadne originally."
