ALLEN HITS TOP SPOT

British newcomer LILY ALLEN has claimed the number one crown on the UK singles chart with her debut release SMILE.

The 21-year-old's radio play favourite climbed 12 places to knock SHAKIRA's HIPS DON'T LIE featuring WYCLEF JEAN back into second spot.

British rockers RAZORLIGHT are at number three with IN THE MORNING, while NELLY FURTADO's former number one MANEATER is at number four. PAOLO NUTINI rounds out the top five with LAST REQUEST.

Rockers MUSE crash in at the top the UK album chart with new LP BLACK HOLES + REVELATIONS, with last week's number one LIBERATION TRANSMISSION by LOSTPHROPHETS falling four places to number five.

THE KOOKS' debut disc INSIDE IN/INSIDE OUT climbs one place to number two, while TIRED OF HANGING AROUND by THE ZUTONS gains two places in third spot.

KEANE's sophomore LP UNDER THE IRON SEA is at number four.
