Rockers JOURNEY are switching singers midway through the group's joint US tour with DEF LEPPARD after frontman STEVE AUGERI was sidelined with a throat infection.
Steve Augeri and JOURNEY perform at the Monsters Of Rock 2006 held at Milton Keynes Bowl. Milton Keynes, England - 03.06.06
JEFF SCOTT SOTO, who has been a longtime friend of Journey's NEAL SCHON, will take over frontman duties when the group performs in Virginia tonight (07JUL06).
Augeri is expected to rejoin the tour when he's feeling better.
A spokeswoman for the group says, "Steve's been suffering with an acute throat condition since before we kicked off the tour with Def Leppard.
"We were hoping he'd be well enough to handle the rigours of the road but, unfortunately, it appears to be a chronic condition, requiring total voice rest. We all wish Steve a speedy recovery."
