New York's revered CBGB club will close its doors for the last time at the end of September (06).
The venue, famous for nurturing the US punk scene in the mid-to-late 1970s by hosting early shows by BLONDIE, TALKING HEADS and the RAMONES, will become part of rock history on 30 September (06).
Owner HILLY KRISTAL lost a battle to keep the venue open in 2005 after a much-publicised fight with landlord, the Bowery Residents' Committee, over a new lease.

Kristal has teamed up with top New York promoters Rocks Off to host a series of final shows, which will feature "many of the artists who made CB's famous."
Rockers SONIC YOUTH recently opened their Rather Ripped US tour at CBGB. The show was filmed for an upcoming documentary.
Kristal refuses to confirm reports he plans to set up a new CBGB's club in Las Vegas, Nevada.
