PETTY EXHIBITION OPENS AT ROCK HALL OF FAME

Rocker TOM PETTY has opened his closet for a special showcase at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland, Ohio.

Representatives from the museum visited Petty's ranch in Malibu, California in April (06) looking for artefacts, and he invited them to have a look inside his substantial closet.

Petty pulled out a flowered shirt he wore in the video for his biggest chart hit FREE FALLIN', and the grey jacket he wore as a member of the TRAVELLING WILBURYS.

The rocker also produced a nylon bag of notebooks filled with handwritten lyrics.

Rock Hall curator HOWARD KRAMER says, "We left his house pinching ourselves!"

The exhibition includes a montage of the band's videos, including the psychedelic, ALICE IN WONDERLAND-inspired DON'T COME AROUND HERE NO MORE.

Petty's over-sized hat from his role as THE MAD HATTER in the video is a permanent part of the museum's collection.

The exhibit comes at a momentous time for Petty, who is on a 30th anniversary tour the his band THE HEARTBREAKERS.
