LATEST: The family of slain rapper NOTORIOUS BIG must wait for their day in court after a US federal judge postponed the retrial in their wrongful death lawsuit on Monday (19JUN06).
District Judge FLORENCE-MARIE COOPER agreed to give the family's attorneys more time to research their case and has rescheduled the trial for January (06) - three months after the initial date.
The same judge declared a mistrial last summer (05) after discovering a detective had hidden statements by a jailhouse informant, linking the killing to two former police officers.
Cooper also ordered city officials to cover the legal costs and expenses of the family - amounting to $1.1 million (GBP610,000).
Notorious BIG, real name CHRISTOPHER WALLACE, was shot and killed in March 1997 in Los Angeles. The murder has not been solved.
In their lawsuit, Wallace's family claims corrupt police officers were involved in the murder.
