THE WHO UNVEIL PLAQUE LIVE IN LEEDS

Veteran rockers THE WHO launched their UK tour at Leeds University on Saturday (17JUN06), the legendary English venue where they recorded their seminal LIVE AT LEEDS album in 1970.

PETE TOWNSHEND and ROGER DALTREY at the Pre-Release Dvd Box Set of The Who's 'Tommy Quadrophenia Live In Concert' held at the Samsung experience Time Warner Center. New York City, USA - 07.10.05

ROGER DALTREY and PETE TOWNSHEND wowed 2,000 fans with a performance that included classic tracks such as WHO ARE YOU?, and I CAN'T EXPLAIN.

The pair, the only surviving members of the original Who line-up, also unveiled a commemorative blue plaque paying tribute to the concert venue.

Townshend said, "It's so great to be back. I haven't been here for ages and I love it in Leeds."

Daltrey added, "Without those unions to play, the venues were thin on the ground, so my big thanks to Leeds and the others for being there."
