SCHWIMMER WINS DEFAMATION SUIT

Former FRIENDS star DAVID SCHWIMMER has won a defamation lawsuit judgment against an imprisoned former charity fundraiser.

DAVID SCHWIMMER

Shamed charity boss AARON TONKEN claimed the actor demanded and received two Rolex watches in return for attending a fundraising event.

Schwimmer took offence to the comments, which he insisted were grossly inaccurate, and decided to take action against Tonken, who was sentenced to a five-year prison term last year (05) after pleading guilty to federal mail and wire fraud.

Schwimmer won $400,000 (GBP222,200) in the judgment yesterday (16JUN06) - and Tonken has now retracted the statement he made and apologised to the actor.

Schwimmer says, "I feel vindicated by the judgment."
