MCMURTRY NOMINATIONS MAKE IT A GREAT YEAR FOR AMERICANA FAMILY
Oscar-winning screenwriter and novelist LARRY McMURTRY's singer/songwriter son JAMES has topped the nominees for the fifth annual Americana Honors + Awards.

The country/folk star, whose father co-wrote the screenplay for BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN, scored three nominations at an announcement event on Thursday (15JUN06).
McMurtry will compete with JOHNNY CASH's daughter ROSEANNE, country star MARTY STUART and rocker NEIL YOUNG for the Artist Of The Year honour. He's also nominated for Album and Song of The Year.
The Americana Honors and Awards show will take place at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee on 22 September (06).
