GENESIS DRUMMER RETURNS FOR TRIBUTE BAND SHOW

Original GENESIS drummer JOHN MAYHEW has reappeared from obscurity to sit in with one of the supergroup's tribute bands.

Mayhew joined the classic rock group in the late 1960s just before founders TONY BANKS, PETER GABRIEL and MIKE RUTHERFORD landed their first record deal, and recorded tracks on debut album TRESPASS.

He quit the group in 1970 and was replaced by PHIL COLLINS.

But he made a stunning return to Genesis music in late May (06) when he joined tribute act REGENESIS for a convention show in London.

Mayhew, who performed THE KNIFE during the tribute band's encore, told his bandmates it took a lot to get him back up on stage - because he hadn't played drums for 36 years.
