KORN STAR DIAGNOSED WITH BLOOD DISORDER

LATEST: The illness that halted rock group KORN's European tour has been revealed - blood disorder immune thrombocytopenia purpura.

The group's frontman JONATHAN DAVIS was admitted to a London hospital over the weekend for treatment after being diagnosed with the illness.

His health crisis prompted Davis to pull out of Korn's performance at the Download Festival in Donnington, England on Saturday (10JUN06) and the group has now postponed its European tour to allow their singer to fully recover.

In a posting to fans on the group's website, Davis explains, "I started getting these weird bruises all over my body about two weeks ago. I was getting very weak after the shows so I saw a doctor in London on Friday.

"He took some blood tests and when the results came in, they rushed me to the hospital. It turned out that I have ITP... a blood infection where, because of an allergic reaction I had to some medication, my blood platelets were really low... I had 5 - no joke."

"If I continued to headbang onstage, I could have had a brain haemorrhage and dropped dead on the spot."

Davis is expected to remain in hospital under supervision for the next week. Medics expect him to take the remainder of June (06) to recover.

The rocker, who hopes to return to the stage with Korn in America at the end of next month (JUL06), adds, "The doctors have cleared me to walk around a bit but I am unable to perform a show or travel right now."
